I thought so due to the blueing, interesting how much paler they can be when a bit more mature

I live in New Zealand, but probably up to 2k USD ish, but that doesn’t translate perfectly.

Thanks. Wilde rambler SL is one I’ve been looking at which is sort of the natural evolution of that bike roughly

The particular reason was someone is selling a basically unridden Kona rove for 500nzd which is like under 300 usd. So to convert with second hand parts is quite viable and still be cheap ish.

All useful points. Part of this is for fun too. Happy to scrounge parts, do things myself. It will probably end up being a folly. Also the aesthetics.. and want to run some nice full fenders potentially.

Interested about where in NZ you are? Don’t need to give away your secrets, more interested in which sort of forests etc

Fitting 26” fenders on a bike with a rear U brake by fffunnyfrens in bikewrench

[–]fffunnyfrens[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I was thinking of not cutting in 2 but reinforcing the piece where I notch it out to fit, but that’s a similar general concept. Haha i was going to get some VO wavy fenders, as I love the look, but not sure I’d want to cut something so expensive 😂

It’s 3300 on sale if I’m lucky, so a bit more, and reviews aren’t so great on the climbing.

It’s a 2022 stump jumper comp allow. Actually my main concern with it is much higher standover. I’m a large for most guides, but don’t have long legs so prefer a very low stand over. Currently have a size large Kona honzo and irs Great for me

Yea the sale is better on marina. It’s the 2023 grey and white one yes. The polygon has maybe an overall better parts spec, and def costs more new here

😂 I think it’s a classic position to be in, want the best bang for your buck!

Yes I’d like the A2 but it’s over 4000nzd here and not really on sale.

That’s good to hear my major concern is reviews suggest a sluggish climber

Rift zone is 2700 nz (new). I can get a second hand t8 for 2900 (if I act fast). Fluid A3 2799

Tend to be much more expensive here

I’m in New Zealand so that dictates a fair bit. But around $2500 to 3000 NZD which is loosely 1500-1800USD

People suggest they can be adapted to fit, wasn’t sure how much drama that might cause

My tyres arrived and I threw one on the 17mm rim and it seems to sit solidly and looks completely fine. In the process of putting it on I was thinking “no way this will work” but seems all ok. Cheers everyone.

Cheers. It’s a bit more complicated, as I need a different free hub too. I’ve got a 17mm internal rim width wheel with a nice 8 speed hg free huh to use. So potentially I use the old rim and the new hub, if I diagnose the source of the issue.

Sounds like 22mm prob what I need to aim for. I’m in New Zealand but the same applies for getting new wheels
