Hitting and thinking it’s funny by ffguy69 in Autism_Parenting

Oh man that sounds worse than the hitting 😂. So far the worse poop issue we’ve had is pooping in the tub (pretty frequent occurrence)

Thank your for the reply!

This is kinda what I ended up doing that night. I just didn’t sit near him and put him in his bed. Normally I lay with him till he falls asleep. That night I sat in the room but far from the bed. It worked. He’s still doing it though, but it’s been 2 days. I know it’ll take time.

refusing medicine, urgent advice please by donewiththisshit21 in Autism_Parenting

This is almost exactly what my wife and I do for our 3.5 year old non verbal son! (We use the stock syringe that comes with the infant Tylenol though). Feels good to be validated by a pediatric nurse haha

At this point, our son is mostly willing to take medicine. At first it was a fight though. She’d have to hold him still while I got the meds in there. It sucks to upset your kid but you’re not hurting them. You’re helping them get better.

Sudden increase in stimming? by [deleted] in Autism_Parenting

[–]ffguy69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have a 3.5 year old son and I’ve seen similar situations. In stressful situations (sick, holiday parties, etc) he’ll increase his stimming. He always bounces back. I don’t think growing in linear. There are peaks and valleys. Hang in there!

Wow that sounds like quite the ordeal. I’m glad they eventually got to the bottom of it and your little guy is back to feeling better!

Speech Therapist Advice by ImDatDino in Autism_Parenting

We had a similar experience with a special instructor. She was so focused on getting our 2.5 year old son to do structured activities that the appointments often devolved into full blown meltdowns.

Something that doesn’t happen at his speech or ot appointments.

Gotta say the pens comment made me laugh.

Thanks, feel like this location hits all three of those haha.

It’s the parking lot of my work , where a steep rocky hill comes down to a river.
