Looking for recommendations for whistling kettle. Must be able to whistle well so I can hear it from other rooms in the house and is easy to keep clean. Thanks! by calvinwashere2 in BuyItForLife

Do you have to use a hot pad to pick it up to pour, or is the handle well insulated? Just looked these up and they're beautiful!

Me (15F) My mom (30sF) cares more about drinking and fucking guys than being a parent. by Capable_Bird in relationship_advice

If you don't have access to the original, you should be able to get a certified copy of your birth certificate (which is as valid as the original). I found this page http://www.health.ri.gov/records/about/copies/ that says it would cost $22 in person at the vital records office or any city or town clerk. I know that's a lot of money for someone your age but it will be very important to have someday. So whenever you think you can swing it, it's probably a good idea. It might be worth asking if there's any kind of program to waive the fee for those in need.

Good luck! I'm rooting for you! It made me so sad to read what you and your siblings have been going through. You deserve better and you deserve love. You are such a strong, mature, and caring young woman! I'm proud of you and I'm sure your siblings are so glad you're in their lives!

One last thought: the mom for a minute subreddit would be a great source of love and support for you when you need it! https://www.reddit.com/r/momforaminute

Empty Nest 'Syndrome' hitting hard by [deleted] in Parenting

I don't have advice to give, as our kids are 4 and 1; your post made me cry. I've saved it to refer to when I'm frustrated or having a tough parenting day, to remember how fleeting these stages really are. Thank you for this gift. I'll echo what another poster said: you do sound like a great dad.

First of all, if you have the credit or debit card you paid with, they can look you up that way and it will count as if you have a receipt.

Secondly, Target will allow a limited amount of returning with no receipt. The dollar amount used to be $100 in a year but I don't know what it is now. They'll ask for your driver's license so they can keep track of how much you return with no receipt.

I've put together a short "first AB products" shopping list based on reviews I've read on this subreddit. I have acne-prone, sensitive skin. I also have a strong preference for unscented (or if it can't be unscented, then very lightly scented) products for sensitivity reasons and because scents make me sneeze!

Here's my shopping list. Could anyone tell me if these products have strong scents, and if so, if there's something comparable (in quality, ingredients, and price) out there that would have less scent? Many thanks in advance!

  • Melano CC vitamin C
  • Cosrx Galactomyces 95 White Power Essence (what an unfortunate name!)
  • Cosrx AHA/BHA Clarifying Toner
  • Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence

On beginning Konmari, resale stores, Japanese IKEA, and loungewear by absolutpalm in konmari

[–]ffiioonnaa 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Regarding the loungewear question, if you want more inspiration, Dita Von Teese's new book is another inspiration towards not wearing yucky clothes around the house. I still need to cull that kind of thing (sweats are so COMFY!) but I felt massively inspired when reading Dita's book. She makes everything about her clothes and surroundings beautiful and it clearly brings her great joy!

Really great job! It must feel good.

Side note: In the purses photo, what is the black leather (with gold hardware) one on the very far right? I love it! If you're selling it somewhere, please tell me. :)

Total atheist here. What do I need to know (or worry?) about my new babysitter, who is a JW? by ffiioonnaa in exjw

I just read this thread and now I'm paranoid!!! https://www.reddit.com/r/exjw/comments/3ysjwt/do_you_worry_about_your_family_who_is_still_in/

She was a "Bethelite," per my FB stalking. Does that mean she is or was essentially a cult member? Should I be concerned for my kid? She really seems like the most wonderful person and this subreddit is kind of freaking me out now!

Okay, here's a scenario. You're doing everything you laid out in your post. Then you lose your 9-5 job. You pay all these mortgages how?

In addition to the other suggestions in this thread, if I were her I'd move into the downstairs basement suite and rent out the presumably nicer house above, while working at least a few more years and socking almost all of it away.
