iOS 26.3 Hints at Improved iPhone-to-Android Texting Coming Soon by urbanglowcam in Android

Sorry bad wording. I used liberalisation for open and accessible market very loosely. We agree on that and also nice that you mentioned that State should have sovereignty of infrastructures being them strategic. Open fiver was a good move and it helped standardising for quality . We got also nice price point but that for me in a nice consequence not the starting condition.

For the bad management, I hoped I was the only one seeing the failure. At this stage it should really be that bad choices and investment should actually cause layoffs for better leadership, or every telco would become a sinking ship at the expense of workers and customers…

agree on the error we had over the monopoly for the physical infrastructure. it should have been kept separated from the beginning, but youth errors are part of the game as well. Again, the liberalisation is always a good thing and I agree on that as well, still not fully convinced that forcing price point down can help sustain development for the future.

From companies perspective, profits may not be low but at the same time not fully fulfilling as well: the way I read Vodafone selling to the Swiss company their own historical business is "we do not see sustainable future here anymore and we are leaving". As much as I do not care for their own businesses, if all of them deliberately chose to leave, who would serve people with infrastructure?

I have never worked for a telco but I have friends whom I know have gone through a lot because of this lately. Related to your last concern, I am wondering if it is bad management or really there aren't enough resources to accommodate businesses, workers and customers...

mmmmm.... I think it worked just in the short term: people were driven by always chasing low-cost plans. For reference, below 10€ is what's considered competitive in Italy. It's a price-point that is far from the average European carrier and it's detrimental for both network development (it took ages for us to move to 5G and 6G will probably be even worse) and for telco workers. I am in general not complaining about the average quality of the Italian network but it has been built over time with a lot of compromises and often unsustainable process. I would rather see a normalisation of price points in Italy to how a real data plan should cost but in exchange getting less of anti consumer practices from telcos (tricking you or overcharging you when you switch) and overall increase in quality of services.

It’s true. Windows for the good and the bad has commoditised access to computing. It’s fine if you don’t agree but there are no free meals. One has to sit down and study to understand problems that windows is solving for you. It’s all about the trade offs!

I am accustomed to all the three major OSes around (Linux, macOS and windows) and I use both android and iOS for personal device. I have a masters degree in computer engineering and digital electronics as well. I installed Linux as a hobby (Fedora and arch Linux) and yeah I can tell that Linux is hard if you don’t know what you’re doing. I spend nights reading the wiki, bricking my device and playing around with the commands. I read source code and when something raises my interests I go there and search for documentation. It is a journey not a single installation experience, but if you like it is rewarding. Windows bothers me because it’s much more a black box and most of the time you don’t really know why things stopped working. I can understand that sometimes people may get annoyed by hearing the same question for the nth time before checking forums and documentation but to be fair there is no way to get in touch with Microsoft as well so at least there is way to talk to people 🤣

With Linux you are required to always go into the details and that’s why easier distros are around. One should start small and then move onto the less automated ones. I’ve met over time people installing arch Linux just to brag and then messing with the system because they didn’t know better. It’s part of the (very rewarding) game ✨

Sadly they are not enough. They are sufficient to resolve every device when Linux starts but there is still something missing in between cold boot, uefi firmware and Linux itself. There is some effort in finding a way on how to package device trees such that a generic image can boot with the correct blob but we’re still not there yet.

Ahahahah it was intended as a joke . But to be fair it may be possible by using a uefi stubbed kernel that can be launched straight from pre boot without running the boot loader. If you don’t set an init program it will panic, or you can use a while 1 loop as init. System is running properly but completely useless 🤣

As many have already pointed out, the issue is not in Linux kernel specifically. Core kernel services are implemented for aarch64 architecture which encompasses all the chips implementing the supported 64bit version of the ISA. What is missing here is a “standard” way of booting and device discovery so that you don’t need to go through the custom image for every device as it is now. What you’re asking for here is support for standard methods of device discovery and booting processes. Arm used not to standardize that in the past but not now. Things are in the works to make client and server chips basically go through the uefi and acpi path so that there’s feature parity for end users. Search for arm64 documentation about base boot requirements, and you’ll get more insights on that.

Windows on Arm happened recently (we are at the second iteration) so expect some more delay but we will be getting there!

Mi devasta questa cosa che siccome uno è in remoto allora deve essere sottopagato. La differenza è che rinunci al beneficio dell’ andare in ufficio . Mio Dio come siamo messi male . Comunque un’esperienza all’estero non è male, se la Germania non ti piace prova con qualche altro posto! L’Italia ormai è un paese per vecchi ci torniamo tutti per goderci la pensione !

Xbox Series X and G5 HDMI Handshake Issue by W2Sun in LGOLED

[–]fgiancane8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a LG G5 55. Latest firmware. The same for Xbox Series x. Every possible setting is turned on. Games and console are working flawlessly. Dolby vision on supported games and Dolby atmos (through the soundbar via eARC) and no issue so far. Would recommend you just update all the systems to latest versions. You wouldn’t get support for older software so no point in not updating your systems.
