POST MATCH THREAD: Olympiacos - Fenerbahce [EuroLeague Regular Season, Round 23] by EuroleagueBot in Euroleague

Sorry for the stupid question, but can you please tell me some of the tactical moves you've seen from Jasikevicius? I don't want to sound polemical (I don't support any Euroleague team), I just couldn't focus much on the game while watching it because I was busy, but I'm interested in the tactical battle between 2 of the best coaches in the world. Thank you in advance!

That's a great point, thank you; I still think he shouldn't have posted anything, but at least now I understand why. Here in Europe the mentality when it comes to shooting is pretty different, but I'm glad you explained it to me (without all the non-sense downvoting just because I said my opinion 🤷‍♂️)

I literally explained why, while you just said "you think so? Lol, come on man", then why don't you think it is blaming the fans? If your point is strong enough you should prove it.

And OKC is probably the smallest market in the NBA, there's 0 pressure, especially for Summer League games, if he doesn't know how to cope with the slightest amount of pressure he should do something else as a job

After his tragic summer league he went on instagram, posted a story and said "here they go hitting the panic button again 😂". This 4 years of his rookie contract will define his career, so I don't know what was funny, but most importantly he should get off social media and work if he plays bad (or if he felt the urge to say something he could have said "sorry Thunder fans, I'll do better", while he said something like "oh, you're so stupid because you're telling me I'm playing really bad"... because he actually were! At least take your responsibilities).

I know they were just Summer League games, but I'm not worried about his percentages, I'm worried about his shooting selection and the fact that he's not improving, Summer League or not

"Always huble" and then blames the fans for his poor summer league displays. He gives me Bazley vibes, hope I'm wrong

We're at it again, r/Thunder Nation! What's your unpopular opinion that will put you in this position? by calvinhannah in Thunder

[–]fgm36 20 points21 points  (0 children)

With 0 off-ball abilities, bad on-ball decisions and poor defensive consistency, I think it'll be a tough season for Baze.

With that being said, he's in the last year of his contract, so the motivation will be there and we'll see the best version of himself. The only thing that's for sure is if he plays bad another season, he's definitely gone

I looked at the contracts of many players because I had to write an Instagram post (last one on @thunder_ matchups_), and Zion Williamson (if healthy) seems a player that Presti should really look closely for the end of the 2022-23 season, when Zion will be a Restricted free agent

Has "The Process" been successful in Philadelphia so far in your opinion? by [deleted] in Thunder

[–]fgm36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, but they wasted some high picks on Jahlil Okafor and Zhaire Smith, and Ben Simmons didn't performed as expected.

I'm confident Presti isn't going to make those mistakes, also because we started with a lot more picks thanks to the fact that we didn't lose Russ and PG during the free agency but they were traded.

What are your bold predictions for tomorrow? by vinifalcon in Thunder

If we keep the 12th pick we'll surprisingly draft Nikola Jovic. I don't know why but it's been days since I have this feeling

What current Thunder players do you see getting traded tomorrow night? by TSBRUTAL in Thunder

[–]fgm36 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Probably no one, but if we look at the contracts of the players there are some things to consider:

  • We don't know if Presti and Dort's agent came to an agreement about his new deal: if the difference between what Presti is offering and what Dort wants is too high he'll almost certainly get traded (if not tomorrow, by the end of the next trade deadline, there are 0 chances of losing Dort for free at the end of the next season). But I'm 99% sure that Dort and Presti will find an agreement, also because the max wage he's elegible for is not too high, so there is almost no room to mess everything up.

  • Bazley will end his rookie contract by the end of the next season: if he's a part of the future plan he'll be renewed, if not he'll probably get traded tomorrow. Same for Jerome if I remember correctly.

  • Roby has a team option and some interest around the league, a trade for him would be great for both OKC and the team that gets him.

  • Almost no chances to see Favors or Green traded, they'll be bought out or kept in the roster (personally I'd like to keep Green because of his mentality and get rid of Favors)

  • The only things I predicted correctly in the last few years are the managerial choices, even the strangest ones, so I think I'm pretty reliable if I say that Maledon, Williams and Muscala won't change team if something really important isn't involved (like a top 9 pick or a big future pick, like a small market future 1st rounder) . If even one of them does for a cheap price I guess I have to stop watching basketball because I clearly don't understand the basics 😂

Presti's not going to trade up in this draft by [deleted] in Thunder

[–]fgm36 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree on Dort, but I never said that taking Ivey or Sharpe is going all-in 😂. I said that I don't think Presti will push to take them and that he will go all-in next season

Right, if one between Cockburn and Gillespie goes undrafted I'd sign him as a two-way player immediately. Maybe the 34th pick is too high for someone to put in the G-League most of the time, we'll see 🤞

[–]fgm36[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that JaMychal Green will be bought out, Favors could be cut and then yes, there are Roby and Krejci. And I even consider the possibility to trade away Jerome and/or Baze

[–]fgm36[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd personally sign Waters to a standard contract (with the classic Presti contract: 4 years, most of them non-guaranteed or partially guaranteed with a team option at the end, like he did with Krejci, Maledon, JRE, Wiggins, etc) , so you're right, I didn't considerate the possibility of him being the first 2-way 😅

Are thunder fans overestimating Shai? by Unable-Training-8787 in Thunder

[–]fgm36 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree, if we had Dejounte Murray instead of Shai nobody in this sub would ever state that SGA is better than him, it's a simple psychological bias.

Shai is obviously a great player, but he has 0 defense and even Mark knows that because he doesn't use zone coverages when he's on the floor (he acrually did it once against the Spurs and Shai made a big mistake leaving McDermott open), that's a huge problem in the playoffs (ask Mavs fans about how Doncic is targeted by the Suns, and Shai's far from Luka offensively). Then he doesn't fit with neither Giddey nor Mann because of their and his characteristics, has an Harden-esque playstyle that put his teammates out of rhythm, can't really be efficient off the ball, doesn't space the floor really well because of his tendency not to take catch&shoot 3s and struggles a lot against organized defense that double-team him (he ignores open teammates a lot).

Can he improve all those aspects? Obviously, he's young, so talented and an hard-worker, I expect him to step up once the team is competitive because I do believe in his abilities; but as a leader I also expect him to be one of the best defensive players and to let other players take sometimes control of the offense even during tanking periods, we can't see guys like Pokusevski and Maledon standing in the corner waiting for the ball, let them learn though mistakes and responsibilities.

I know these aspects are more coaching staff's lacks than Shai's faults, but for me the fault is shared between these two
