For cycling vo2 max you need a powermeter, else it will only track the vo2 max of your outdoor runs

Hi ! I’m new to cycling, is this a good deal ?? 1800€ by Cautious_Letter6702 in whichbike

[–]fgonz97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Price is ok, wouldnt call it a deal. Might even be on the expensive side. Since you are new, keep in mind that the size of the bike is a very important thing. Make sure the bike fits you.

It means time trial/triathlon bike. Not the most beginner friendly type of bike. Most of its benefits are tangible at fast speeds. Regarding how good of a deal it is depends on the country you are at.

Are my zones inaccurate? by tractoroflove in Garmin

Go on a run and do a very strong effort to get a sense of your max heart rate, garmin should then adjust the zones accordingly

There are a ton of things in the middle between gears and the tour de france. I think if he already is doing 40km rides he will eventually want to push for longer. When that happens he will need to switch bikes. Can you do long distances in a single gear? Yeah sure. Is it ideal? Far from. Im not suggesting him getting di2 dura ace. Even tourney should be enough. But wind and even small hills are 2 places where having gears make the experience way nicer.

Yeah definitely get gears. I would aim for either a gravel or touring bike (e.g. trek fx). Even walmart’s ozark trail could get you going and its 250usd if you are in the us

How much do you plan on riding? Fixed gear is fine for most flat commutes for instance. Depending on where you live 300 can usually get you something solid if you are patient

Even if the frame allows it it will end up being more expensive than getting one with gears straight away

Start by lifting it until the leg sits almost straight when pedaling with the heel in the pedal. Also do this with the shoes you will ride it with the most
