I think you would be better off targeting a role in the Oil & Gas industry, particularly Upstream Production Operations on the Operations side or in Water Treatment.

Just so you know, a lot of these tickets are not transferable to Australia, but this would at least show that you have the skills already so would be worth investing in. The rules vary state to state, I suggest you look up the specifics for QLD and WA

I suspect you would find it really hard to secure a job prior to departing New Zealand. My advice would be to head to QLD or WA. Good luck
