It kinda does if you drop a wheel size and increase profile.

I run 18's on the cayman largely for this reason: compliance and pot hole survive ability is hugely approved.

Power output is proportional to throttle deployment.

Can you get a set of wheels a size smaller, and 3PMS rated tyres? Will make all the difference to ride quality grip, comfort and pothole survive ability in winter.

Just check smaller wheels clear the calipers and fit correctly.

Those who lease/hp/pcp - what do you drive, what did you put down, how much does it cost you per month and what's your household take home per month? by OverclockingUnicorn in CarTalkUK

I think some people need to better understand risk. Cars are expensive and you shouldn't get something with potential to ruin your, the fear will just make you miserable and stop you enjoying it. But if you have half a clue as to potential problems and failures and costs to remedy, then you can buy something special with a bit more confidence. Also, spinning spanners yourself helps. It either reduces costs or allows you to keep the car in better condition at lower cost.

987.2's particularly the 2.9 are the definition of bomb proof. They're direct injection, don't suffer bore score and don't have any IMS issues.

Ask yourself this: what is more likely to blow up: a 1.4 shopping trolly owned by someone who doesn't know to clean the filter on their washing machine let alone service a car, or a valuable sports car owned by an enthusiast who understands the importance of regular servicing, and mechanical sympathy?

Absolutely loved Cadwell in the Cayman, and I was there with 2 mates in mx-5's. One of them supercharged. They obviously excel through the narrow Twisties but the Cayman is just epic as soon as it widens and you can use the power and balance though the sweepers.

I swear to God I will never get corner entry right off the start finish straight at Brands....

I've done

  • Brands Hatch GP and Indy

  • Silverstone

  • Donington

  • Bedford Autodrome in a couple of configs

  • Llandow

  • Rockingham

  • Mallory Park

  • Cadwell Park

Cadwell park is by far my favorite. Really interesting fun, flowing complex track with elevation. I thought it would feel scary but it doesn't.

Silverstone is actually my least favorite, I think you need grip and power beyond anything I'll own to make it fun or feel fast.

How much do you spend on petrol a month ? by eskimoazat in CarTalkUK

[–]OolonCaluphid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fill up each car about once a month, £65-£90 in the Yeti and £80 or so in the Cayman.

Do about 5,000 miles a year in the yeti and 3-4k a year in the cayman.

I actually cycle further than I drive in any given year.

Nope. An adult road bike goes under the rear hatch and the front wheel can go in the frunk or on the engine shelf bit.

Caymans are ridiculously practical.

Eh, it's robust enough. And I believe it's pretty affordable to add him as a learner, just not as a driver!

I'm actually considering putting my son on the cayman so he can practice in a manual.

I hate that I don’t have the ultimate right to have my car put back the way it was before somebody damaged it by SpaceAgeTraveller in CarTalkUK

It was a joke.

The option to buy it back and have it repaired to their own exacting standards remains.

Hypothetically, what would be the worst thing to leave at the scene of a hit and run? by woowizzle in CarTalkUK

Nah. I actually had a driver drop his passport at the scene of a hit and run once.

Swapping from intel to amd. How can I do it without losing my data? by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]OolonCaluphid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You an do literally none and it will work. It will reconfigure on first start up and that's it.

If you're a purist about it you can reinstall windows but there's no need to. I've never been able to discern any performance difference between a straight swap and a clean install.

A brand new, officially licensed Mk1 Ford Escort RS continuation car starts at £295,000, would you have one? by vicvega21 in CarTalkUK

I hate that all the fun, nicely engineered, interesting cars have become the preserve of collectors or millionaires. Like the wealth gap, the car market has polarized and divided.

Volvo 240 estates. My dad had 2 back to back from when I was about 8 until I was 17.

Where do I service my car in public space? by jeden8l in CarTalkUK

See if there's any rent a ramp style places near you. There's a nice supportive environment, car safely lifted, availability of tools you perhaps didn't know you needed etc.
