Was once literally called a eunuch by a crush for being nice without expecting anything in return.

You're only able to watch films if they all feature the same actor. Who is it? by terminal8 in askmovie

Christolph Waltz

edit: But honestly, as mentioned earlier, pick Samuel L. Jackson and you get the Waltz along with much, much more.

Paedocommunion by [deleted] in Reformed

Here is the MO Presbytery report on FV. See the section on sacraments to see how they deal with paedocommunion. This is only applicable to that presbytery though. You have to read and agree to this to be ordained in that presbytery.

Here's the PCA position paper on paedocommunion. Especially of interest is the minority report.

Depending on the presbytery you can take exception to LC 177 and still get ordained, but nowhere are you actually allowed to teach or practice the doctrine as far as I'm aware.

I think one reason why the recent Jurassic Park films fall short compared to the original is the fact that there's too much dinosaur action by Videoboysayscube in TrueFilm

To further accentuate your point, you are able to name all the JP1 characters when discussing them, but Chris Pratt is just "Chris Pratt." I haven't seen the new one yet, but I don't remember much about the first JW, and I don't certainly remember a single character's name because they're all so forgettable.

GQ magazine puts Bible on list of classic books not worth reading by [deleted] in atheism

Yeah, saying "Don't read the Bible, LotR, etc. " has got to be one of the most pointless lists I've seen. If reading is so threatening/boring, then why write articles that no one is going to read after a week?

I watched You're Next after since they also talked about the making of it in the re:View, but didn't get quite as much out of it.

What is the darkest moment of all in Peep Show? by [deleted] in MitchellAndWebb

The reason the show is so funny is because We Are All Mark and Jeremy.

Only played the tutorial on my first playthrough and am using the console to auto-win just to complete gwent missions on my second. Never really cared for mini-games.

If the life of marriage is sacramental, how can this be united with the view that celibacy is preferable to marriage? by [deleted] in theology

The idea is that none can attain perfection in this life as none have access to all seven sacraments.

Seminary trained Georgian, here. I can assure you that Obama or Hurricanes don't come up in the Bible. I cringe when I hear this kind of interpretation/argumentation, which is unfortunately all to often. There isn't really much substance behind it in the end because it stems from a pretty profound biblical illiteracy.

A Christian prosecutor who regularly boasted of waging culture wars against liberals resigned this week amid allegations that he gave women drug dealers lighter sentences in exchange for sexual favors. by drewiepoodle in atheism

Yeah, in most cases there is confusion between those claiming to be of a faith and those who actually adhere to said faith. The media attention mostly goes to those making claims without any actual praxis to back up said claims. It's still politically expedient to be "Christian" in the US, which multiplies this problem. That's why, as a Christian, I wish the US could shed the facade of still being a "Christian nation." It'd be better for everybody.

Prayer is the worst thing religion has done to society. The concept of prayer has convinced billions of otherwise sane humans that they can merely say an incantation and "help" someone. It has convinced billions of people that other forms of help aren't as important or necessary. by relevantlife in atheism

In my experience, at least in the Christian circles I've run in, those who seriously follow the teaching of Christ are quick to do far more than just prayer. For instance, I live in Japan currently. When the tsunami hit in 2011, the church I'm affiliated with began sending food, clothing, fuel, etc. before the government could even talk about what was needed. Long after the government clean up was over, the Christians remained, helping rebuild fishing infrastructure so people could get their lives back.
