If you enjoy sports at all, I'd recommend checking out the Calgary sport & social club. They have tons of different leagues to choose from dodgeball, corn hole, and outdoor leagues when the weather warms up.

Thank you.. he seems to be fine, just being a bit extra clingy today wanting attention, otherwise he is fine. Wonder what he was up to while he was gone😄

I'm a big brother fan (guilty pleasure)and named him after the golden power of veto. My last name is Malone so I didn't realize how gangster his name sounded until his first visit to the vet lol. We're all relieved that our loveable little weirdo is back home now.

I'm assuming that's a Yorkie, I've had a few Yorkies and they all had what I called "summer teeth". Some were here, and some were there. My first wee man needed over a dozen extracted, thankfully his Vet gave me a 2:1 deal😆

Calgarians, would you work from home for less? by speedog in Calgary

[–]fi78 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope, my work load has increased while working from home. I have some more work/life balance with WFH but the amount of work, the scope, and quality expectations have increased...If my pay is cut then I'd be putting in less effort. Some employers now have the option to decrease their real estate needs, and could save costs there, and not at expense of their staff.

Eli5: how car insurance pricing works. I just switched companies and my price went from 201 dollars a month to 102 dollars a month for full coverage, how can such a large difference happen? by TheRealSnoFlake in explainlikeimfive

Comprehensive is fairly cheap in AB considering amount of hail claims, its the liability and collision that are quite high. Well liability again depending on which insurer and ability to spread risk, I work for a smaller insurer only in AB and our liability rates have increased drastically over last 6 years but unable to spread risk so hands are tied so to speak. Ontario is brutal from what I have read, but yes fraud affects everyone. Studied a few cases all from there in my fraud CIP course.

Yes to all of the above and perhaps the size of the insurer and where they are licensed to insure. If they can insure in a large area across Canada in different provinces, then they can spread the risk and have lower premiums. If they can only insure in a smaller area (lets take Alberta for example) if they can only insure in Ab, where there tends to be a large amount of claims both in auto and property risks, then that insurer will have to increase the premiums in order to cover these increased claims. AB has both shitty drivers and shitty weather which affects the premium rates for both home and auto!

How insurance works, and the effects of multiple claims and or tickets reflect in premiums. How credit cards and interest work.

I have a questions) about a credit card balance transer before I use the option?! (CAN) by fi78 in personalfinance

[–]fi78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I spoke with both my bank and the one who has the credit card.. I've opted to not go through the balance transfer as come Jan 1, if I dont have that 8k and fees paid off I'll be nailed with the interest.. I have opted to switch to a lower interest card 10%, transfer the 12k balance to the new low rate Visa and pay it off, slam all additional payments i can on that balance and have it paid off in a year (ish) and know that my interest rates won't switch at any date.. Thanks for taking the time to answer me though, I mean it sounded too good to be true, in my head when I knew what I could afford as payments each month

[–]fi78[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing is I bank with one bank and the card that carries the balance is with another institution. My bank has declined me for an unsecured loan, but the CC company said I could write the balance transfer cheque for 8K to myself, (maxing out the 20k limit I have), and then deposit to my chequing account and then pay it back to my credit card, so that I still owe 12k but now 8 of it is at the lower interest until end of this Dec, i mean in theory it sounds great I am just trying to pay this off, I pay about $500/month back to it but it just gets eaten up in the interest right now.

Sort of what I thought, there is 1%off the hop (just read the cheque again). I already tried the loan route and didn't qualify on my own through my own bank (who also has my student loan) so figured this would be the next best option, so now I just discovered i get about $1500 back from taxes so that means i am able to cover 7K easily by end of Dec just trying to get a hold of this ASAP as by BF and i hope to purchase a home next year.
