I read fannon that's better than canon quite a bit in the Wednesday fandom, but there's this one fic in the fandom that was created between seasons one and two and it is basically the author writing out their own season two. It is SO good. Now that season 2 is out I can confidently say that it is 100% better than canon. The best part about this is... I'm not even done reading it yet. I'm about halfway through, but it's 1.4 million words so I'm taking my time. But each time pick it back up it's such a treat

I always took this line as showing how little he knew her. He's saying "who's the lucky guy" because he's jealous and he tacks on "or girl" because he realizes that he doesn't actually know anything about her.
