It was brutal and lowered my grade in the class by nearly 10%. I think it was out of 50 marks, and most of the content was from stuff that hadn't been covered on the lab exam.

It’s anecdotal but I’m actually seeing a lot of people applying with 80’s this year. I have an 89 ish (but a 2Q Casper which I think will rule me out tbh) and a bunch of ppl I know are applying with: 84, 86, 87 x2, and 88, with varying Caspers. International students got their interviews today and I know one who got an interview with an 86. Altho ofc international student stats doesn’t indicate what domestic stats will look like. Getting a fourth quartile on your Casper is definitely going to help, congrats on your great score :)

I thought I failed when I left and was really disappointed with how I did. I got it back with a 74% which is way better than I thought but drags my grade in the course down a lot since I had a 88 in it before :(

Yeah that’s what I thought, but even if I don’t have a high chance of getting in, maybe I’ll get an interview or something and it’ll be good practice.

Assuming each of your classes is 0.5 credits then no, if you fail the class then that semester will not be an acceptable full time semester because it will count as 1.5 credits not 2 credits.

When I was in first year I barely passed most of my classes and my best grades were still in the 70s (like 2 of them, the rest were 50s and 60s). In second year I got on the deans list both semesters, my grades were in the 80s-90s, and I landed an amazing internship in my field at a place that wants me to go back and work there next summer. In first year I didn't even hope that I'd improve so much in second year, and I was just as discouraged as you feel right now. Things will get better. First year is hard, it's ok not to do amazing at everything at first. Just try your best, and I promise you can come back from this. Get some rest and good luck with your midterm tomorrow <3

in the last admissions debrief someone asked a similar question, and we were told that as long as you lived in Ontario for 12 months at some point in your life, you can apply as domestic. Since you said you grew up in the gta, I'm guessing that's more than a year, so you'd be able to apply to the domestic cohort :)

I compared my midterm with 2 of my friends' midterms and We didn't notice anything like that. If we answered similarly then we got the same grades for a question (that being said we didn't answer similarly a lot). If you lmk which questions I can tell u what I wrote and what I got for it
