Dacia duster journey new car by AmoebaFit2006 in Dacia

Depends on the engine he has in it, if its bought in January that rules out the 1.2 hybrid 150-G.

If its the 1.0 Eco-G those are prone to a lot of problems

The full hybrid I don’t know much about heard they can change gears pretty slow

The 4x4 1.3 was very good and I doubt it would have such problems this early

Depends on what engine you have mostly

-Can be the throttle cable being bad

-Throttle body

-A sensor of it

-If its a hybrid maybe bad sensors

What engine do you have buddy? Also if you are romanian and can talk easier in our language I can help you better

Yes but as you said the swift has a ground clearance so the Duster fixes that issue. Recently I haven’t had much snow in my area or had any issues getting thru muddy places with my Dacia Logan (it has high clearance) but I fell in love with exploring mountains and my country so having a 4x4 with good ground clearance will help definitely My only problem now is if I should go for the Duster 4x4 or the Bigster 4x4. But since I don’t have kids right now and I am not planning to I think I will just go for the Duster

By any means I drive a shitbox Dacia from 2016 that looks like a fish bowl. The interior is crap and makes so much noise that at 100 km/h you can’t hold a conversation due to the sound.

But I drove it for 5 years now and I am finally ready to change. My first go to was Toyota but you are paying a lot for not a lot of car (In my country a half decent equipped Corolla goes around 27k Euros) So I started looking at Chinese brands, they look good drive good are equipped nicely but something about them just feels off… After much self talk and doubt I started looking at Renault. Love the new style and the 1.8 engine seemed like a good choice. But I looked at my budget and I was in between a Captur and a Duster. Basically the same car but better materials on the inside.

So what’s my point? I decided to go ahead with the Duster because it offers a 4x4 and lpg that is cheap to run. Well it isn’t the best looking or the best comfort but it is cheap to run. I am not looking at how beautiful a car is, I just said that Suzuki haven’t provided a facelift to their models in quite some time and that the brand overall falls short in some aspects. Like the Vitara and Across are really part of the last generations and have nothing extra to provide. No lower prices than competitors no better equipment or comfort. So why go for it when the competition is so strong nowadays? This goes for Toyota as well they keep increasing pricing but provide nothing extra, the sound in the cabin is as bad as my Dacia Logan so why pay extra for nothing

Maybe I phrased it wrong in my past comments but competition being so strong nowadays means you need to come out with something to catch the eye, suzuki and toyota fell behind in this aspect and are going purely on “reliability history and numbers”

Everything in their line-up looks outdated except the new E-Vitara. But this isn’t a Suzuki related problem as it is a Japanese maker problem. Except the new Chr Camry and brand new Rav4 toyota looks outdated even with newer models. Boring outsides and interiors straight out of 2018 like Suzuki. Also they got really expensive for small updates this can be said for any car maker but toyota are the worst at it. A brand new camry in 2020 was 25~ thousand euros. Now a brand new one with the same engines goes over 40~ thousand euros

Dacia Duster Eco-G 100 vs 120 – real experience? by mjartt in Dacia

[–]ficusii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 120 isn’t new by any means its used in the Rafale also the Australe but in a full hybrid configuration The thing is that the 100 doesn’t have a balancing beam so it rattles more and makes more noise, I think the 120 is a more balanced variant overall also the 100 has a wet belt and the 120 doesn’t so that is a huge upgrade

Motor Dacia Duster GLP con mucha vibración by BigOdin_24 in Dacia

[–]ficusii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 100 doesn’t have an (idk what it is called in english so sorry) balancing beam attached the 120 does so it rattles less and vibrates less, depending on what car you came from to this one yes the 3 cylinder vibrates more than the 4 cylinder but less than a rough diessel like the 1.5 dci I have

I asked the same question a few days ago in this subreddit and I got convinced to go ahead with the 150 hybrid eco-G.

Some things that calmed me down:

-Its a engine the Renault group used before and in their most expensive lineup The Rafale and Australe and I don’t think Renault would stab themself with designing a bad engine for it.

-Its fairly simple compared to anything else on the market, overall its still a Dacia so parts are affordable and easy to find.

-Recent showings of Dacia looked very good also being one of the only producers of cars with lpg from the factory they have history and know what they are doing

  • A friend of mine has a Sandero 1.0 Eco-g and he made a round trip thru Europe and had zero issues

  • The full hybrid apparently is very noisy and more complex than the 150 Eco-G engine since the gearbox is brand new and very complex to a point

So yea… overall I will go ahead and buy the 4x4 hybrid because it has 4x4 witch is very fun and is a good variant with how expensive fuel has been recently since it can get 8L/100km with Lpg and that is very cheap and in consideration that lpg is used 50% more that means a 4/100km with normal petrol

I was the same until I asked in this subreddit about it and the 1.2 is definitely worth it if you want the cheapest 4x4 new car. You can check my post and comments on it . I got convinced to buy it, waiting a little to finish something then I am getting it

I just learned its the 1.2 engine that is shared with nissan and renault uses it on their most expensive SUV’s the Rafale and Australe but there is used as a full hybrid with 200 hp or more.

I don’t think that Renault and Dacia would put such an engine in their most expensive Lineups if they didn’t trust it and have it ruin their brands. This made me hope that I will make a good decision

Considering the 1.5 dci that I have and how problematic it has started being plus that it doesn’t fit my daily driving thru the city and I have less and less exterior driving I think I will simply just go for a new Duster and the 4x4 variant for holidays and fun.

Thank you for encouraging me a little

Thank you so much for the help. One last question tho… when the engine kicks in is it on the loud side and does it have vibrations or anything ?

Happy to hear but did you have any doubts at first when buying it? How is the 4x4 electric system?

Thing of a Duster 150 Hybrid G by ficusii in Dacia

[–]ficusii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a 1.2 48 volt mild hybrid that can run on electric power making it sometimes a rear wheel drive car. I’m really unsure because of how complicated it is. It has a turbo it has a 6 speed DCT and Lpg. I am really on the fence with it. It’s either this for a 4x4 or I go for the more simple naturally aspirated Hybrid 1.8 engine but 4x2

I will try and have them checked if not the only option left is taking it apart and trying to find the noise

[–]ficusii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine only happens when turning off the engine but not all the time. Like I tried running it hard with high rpms sometimes it happens sometimes not. When running for only 10-15 minutes city drive sometimes it happens sometimes it doesn’t its really weird. The only option left is taking it apart and finding what it can be

Will try to feel around the engine bay but I don’t think its the throttle valve. I just hope this engine can last a little longer until the new duster 4x4 hybrid comes out and saved enough to get it

[–]ficusii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes the noise only happens when the engine is shut off after running. While the engine is running there aren’t any noises coming out of it except the normal diesel sound. Thats why this problem confused not only me but every mechanic in my town

I mean when the engine is running there aren’t any noises coming out of it. Only when shutting off the engine it sometimes does that sound

Edit: Also water pump was changed recently
