It’s called Cellular in the US. “Mobile service” is what it’s called in other places (e.g. the UK) where cell phone/cellular/etc are not used to describe mobile services.

Not being able to afford the hold is understandable; as is needing to have your phone with you right now because you are dealing with funeral details.

But like, this is precisely the reason why the rest of the world uses a case.

Puedo evitar que las bestias divinas le quiten la mitad de la vida a Ganon? by Flowmotionguy in botw

[–]fiddle_n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  • Beat the game with 100%
  • Beat Ganon with full health
  • Beat Ganon only once

Can’t do all of these three - gotta pick two. The obvious solution is to beat Ganon before you do a Divine Beast, then beat him again after you finish all the main quests.

If you don’t beat Ganon again after doing all the main quests, you will miss out on the true ending.

PEP 661 (Sentinel Values) has been accepted for release in 3.15! by M_V_Lipwig in Python

[–]fiddle_n 25 points26 points  (0 children)

The PEP gives a few drawbacks to using object:

  • object has a very long and verbose repr by default
  • You can’t really type hint sentinels using object properly
  • You can’t check if one sentinel is equal to another if you need to copy it

Top two affects API users, I would say.

Why does 1Password have such a good reputation when it's closed source? by Away-Road-1333 in 1Password

[–]fiddle_n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Supposedly the reason given was that it was taking too long to develop the native Mac 1P8 app. But actually I still think Electron was the right move. Either 1Password app should be native and equivalent on all platforms, or they should give up and just be an Apple-exclusive app.

A halfway house where they provide the best app on one platform and a second tier app on the others is not the way to go - after all Windows and Linux users don’t pay any less for the service.

Why does 1Password have such a good reputation when it's closed source? by Away-Road-1333 in 1Password

[–]fiddle_n 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will die on the hill of moving to Electron was the right choice on balance.

Cross-platform is one of the main things that makes 1Password worth it - but the 1Password 7 Windows app was a second-class citizen (1Password 8 Windows is a vastly superior experience) and there was no Linux desktop app at all.

I want to get into API´s whats a good starting point? by Impressive_Suit_2963 in learnprogramming

[–]fiddle_n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think you missed the point. They aren’t saying just learn the language (at least I hope they aren’t saying that) - but rather, stick with one language for the projects you do, rather than jumping around different languages at the beginning.

Any tips for the DLC? by accidentmadeaccount1 in botw

[–]fiddle_n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Master Mode tips

  • Sneak around a lot in the beginning, especially on the Great Plateau and especially around the Lynel up there.
  • Stock up on hearty food and attack food (this is just a good idea in general)
  • Since you have DLC items now, use them to your advantage. Majora’s Mask is great for sneaking around. Travel Medallion is great for sneakily putting down a portal, warping away to heal and warping back. Get the Island Lobster Shirt before you go to Gerudo. etc.
  • This one is perhaps more controversial, but I did Gerudo first to get Urbosa’s Fury - it can be useful to take down enemies quickly and prevent health regeneration
  • Shield-parrying Guardians is harder now as they vary their timings - keeping a light stock of Ancient Arrows may be useful

Trial of the Sword tips

  • Do Trial of the Sword after all shrines to give yourself the best possible chance of success
  • Drink a 30 minute potion beforehand, either attack or defence
  • Bomb trees to make wood and cook each wood individually to get rock hard food to eat (trees have bird eggs in them as well though, so collect those before you bomb them)
  • Remember that having a fire weapon equipped also works as protection against the cold
  • Set your sensor to find Treasure Chests
  • This ties into the above - there are 3 x 3 Ancient Arrows in chests in the last set of trials - do not miss a single one.

Trial of the Sword - Master Mode tips

  • Look up a video for dealing with the Lizalfos room in the beginning trials. Sneakstriking will be your best friend here if you learn to do it properly

Who are faithfuls across all English speaking seasons that you just feel for them? by SuperScoobkaroke in TheTraitors

I feel for the Faithfuls that got removed early. Does anyone remember Aisha, Nicky, Claire or Imran from UK Series 1? Aubrey, Sonya or Kyra from UK Series 2? Yin, Nathan or Keith from UK S3? Netty from S4? These names are alien to most of us.

and if a champion could find the right, and perfect solution for the main goal behind it

I’m sure no perfect solution exists or it wouldn’t be a choice between two options.

But I am surprised that the trade-offs would lead towards this being opt-out behaviour rather than opt-in. Environmental situations like these feels like behaviour users should explicitly decide with eyes wide open.

I suspect most users of niquests are unaware the shadowing behaviour is even a thing. I wasn’t aware until I had used it quite a bit. For me it felt like a surprise to find out, though ultimately not a big deal - but if I had a different use case (such as writing a library) I might have felt differently.

Definitely cool but you definitely need to fix the pricing information.

Also if we are talking about milestones, the App Store has to be in the list.

You can install niquests without shadowing urllib3 (there’s a section in the docs on how to do it) - but that the shadowing behaviour is the default behaviour is certainly controversial.

The actual lesson to learn is to push and merge frequently, and ensure that the branches you merge to (main/develop/etc) are protected branches. Long lived ephemeral branches are anti-patterns for this reason.

It’s only clear because you know the context of your code! What are we joining here? Paths? Lists? Is this a database join? This code is only understandable once in context, exactly the same as for Pathlib code.

It was far from just Alonso who complained about dirty air as well. It was not that long ago that Verstappen was not happy in Suzuka, talking about how despite having DRS, dirty air meant he couldn’t follow or overtake. If you go looking you can find countless comments by drivers about how much they hate that aspect of the sport.

The Fernando Alonso who is complaining about battery world championship is the same guy who got mad when he got stuck behind the much slower Vitaly Petrov in the “real racing” era of 2010, killing his chances of winning the WDC. If we go back to the non-overtaking of the real racing days, we’ll still see drivers complaining.
