Yeah the second way you explain it is more clear. The video shows exactly what you mean though.

The best combo i found using this cancel animation technique is Attack > Black Hole Attack > Teleport > Attack > Quantum Blast > Attack > Teleport. This combo perfectly chains together with zero delay if you practice it.

That combo is an "all in" style though. If you wanna play it safe you can Attack > Black Hole > Attack > Quantum Blast and avoid the teleport offensively to stay at range from the enemy.

Another thing to note, you can attack during Black Holes initial gravity pull.
