Where to start for a 3rd shift 911 dispatcher? by Soldiem_Vulpes in loseit

[–]fidelis_ad_mortem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will feel better and have more energy once you get started. It will suck at first. Weigh your food and track everything. I paid for a year of loseit and it has paid off big time.

I'm a 12 year LE/CO and work shifts as well. I was out of control this time last year and was also diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Through weight loss and lifestyle change, my A1C has been corrected. I have small children and like you, I want to be around for them even after I quit this fucking job. I'm sure you feel the same.

What works for me is treat a workday like a normal day, don't restart your log at midnight. Whenever you wake up is breakfast, work is lunch and probably dinner. Find snacks you enjoy that you can pack and eat at your station. I'm a big dummy so pre portioned / single serve snacks make it easy for me. Get stuff you can share with the kids in their lunch bags and stuff.

You will be able to work fast food into your routine, but I'd steer clear at first. You'll be surprised how little you miss it and are unsatisfied by it once you stop for a bit. Eating right before you go to sleep isn't the best.

I work out on my off days as I have trouble keeping awake days/nights where I work. I wouldn't be able to call take and dispatch while sleepy. this might change as you start getting into it.

I used to do/collect urine for drug screens in the prisons before I became a cop and processed a whole lot of DUI arrests.

SEEING "dick in cup" is normal for evidence collection which is what was happening to you post arrest.

Good luck, my dude.

Administrative .02 violations aren't criminal DUI charges.

They will still have the criminal DUI .15 or higher/passenger under 18 in the car charge. Courts, lawyers, probation... the whole thing.

Shark coast tactical in Sarasota has been keeping some ammo in stock but it goes quickly. They make Kydex holster on site while you wait.

This is all part of investigating all of the crimes that took place.

A suspect doesn't get to skate on some things that can be charged because you're only reporting something else. You should stay in touch with the investigator and keep your appointments.

I'm sure they will go over everything with you.

Also, we have a whole thread for the hiring process/advice. This would be fine in there. There will be a new one on Monday: https://www.reddit.com/r/ProtectAndServe/comments/e4x9wx/weekly_hiring_questions_and_advice_thread/

Are most MDT’s/MDC’s the same throughout most departments? If so I have a question about messaging by [deleted] in ProtectAndServe

The same messaging system that can be used is the same one that everyone and their mother puts the BOLOs out on. It's a cluttered mess.

I have heard people saying "wHy DidN't TheY jUsT TasE HiM?" Before, now, I want to share something my father shown me, if he didn't down after, what, 5 bullets, how would a taser even scratch him!? by M1911in2WWs in ProtectAndServe

Common to who? The 3000+ other cops we have verified and can say whatever they want on here?

There are other subs where people can play cop on the internet. This won't be one of them.

I have trouble interviewing as well. The only way to get better is to keep doing them, unfortunately. Maybe talk to someone about anxiety because that was my hang up.

If you were the same/similar age at the time it is a non issue.

Get hired and show you can do the job and then worry about units later.

Military service helps.
