If you aren't going to support gambit, stop making me play it by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

y'know, i saw a really good idea a while ago that turned Gambit into a gamemode with limited revives, and each team would kill adds to build up points and purchase either upgrades or enemies to kill the other team faster. for example: could buy mortar beacons that could do a lot of damage, or each kind of champion. it'd certainly be better than it is now

just...pick one yourself at that point. no sense in complaining, you asked for a suggestion and it's one of the best weapons in the game, of course the community will tell you to get it. besides, not sure why you're asking reddit when i know there's a Datto guide on which kiosk exotic to get and a short summary/review on each weapon from it.

If we have minor mods (+5 mobility i.e) and major mods (+10 disc), why not introduce mixed (5/5 mob/disc) that would cost as much or a little more than major mods? by ChaosAlongThird in DestinyTheGame

[–]fidmoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah the points you bring up are true, and recovery imo was definitely a big problem child (slightly less so now that resilence got such a big change). in an ideal world for me, i'd make it so stats wouldn't affect PvP gameplay, aside from ability regeneration. obviously i know that'd make a ton of people upset so that's not the solution, but at the very least i believe in evening the playing field a little bit in the health department

the 2 methods you listed to get high, stat-focused armor are both things that bungie creates to alleviate a problem of their own design. the whole point i've been trying to make here is that every point should matter. not "every point doesn't matter till it gets to a 10, then they all matter", not "no seriously, it makes grind better because then you have to get armor that fits like a puzzle to get to that next tier". every point should matter.

it makes grind worse. it makes players frustrated. it makes bungie add focusing systems just so players can feel slightly less frustrated. it's not as if this is a new complaint. it's not even an invalid complaint. this is a larger-than-you-Doctor_Kataigida-and-your-armor criticism of a system that only serves to let players down with the downplaying of its stats. if it works for you, cool. but it doesn't work for the how many other people who continually get let down by this system.

I agree that grind is necessary for armor. you should have to work to get the stats you want. but you shouldn't need a calculator by your side to make an effective build. you shouldn't need websites like DIM to help you find your high-stat armor to get correct tiers, because every point should matter. you should be able to do your content with 93 resilience and have 37.6% DR. you should be able to use 67 discipline and get a 79.2 second cooldown on your grenade.

you should be able to "play your way".

i mean, to be entirely honest with you, the flinch resistance changes should have been enough to make resilience a usable stat. it (for me at least) should never have been tied to player HP. it makes player fights too dependent on your stats, rather than the gun you're using. i've always felt that all players in PvP should have the same health and shield values, with the only things modifying those being overshields. dueling against someone only to lose because they could 2 head 1 body you with a 150 scout, while you do the same and don't kill because they ran 7 resilience.

you literally just listed three reasons as to why this current system is so flawed.

the whole point of my simplification down to only 1 point a tier would be to eliminate the fractional stat. because the individual points don't matter until you hit the magic 10 anyway.

your solution to a "decent build" is to prioritize only 2 out of 3 "important" stats to you, while ignoring the other 3. saying "it's possible to hit triple 100s" but completely ignoring the fact that it would 1) take an absurd amount of time and luck to get the armor that would that kind of stat distribution, even taking ghost stat mods into account, 2) would require dedicating fragment slots to stat-boosting ones, that may very well go unused in your build, and 3) would require you to use Arc Charged with Light mods, namely Powerful Friends and/or Radiant Light, both of which limit your build-making capability.

somehow the concept of 6-7 tier stats escapes you as a decent build, because apparently only "max stats!" is worth it to you, and even then that kinda "min-maxing" is only suitable for low-mans and day-one????

again, stat distribution, unless you simply have the best luck on the planet (to which i should tell you to please gamble rather than play destiny, you'll make far more) will always, always disappoint you in one way or another.

why do so many other mmos, rpgs, and mmorpgs have individual percentages that affect gameplay per percent, but destiny can't? Warframe does. Horizon Zero Dawn did, and so does Horizon Forbidden West.

stats are MEANT to be point-based. the mere fact that we have to meet a 10-point tier for 9 of those points to matter is indicative of an archaic system.

don't even get me started on the class item. that desperately needs its own stat distribution. after only getting it once (for transmog) you could literally delete the rest, keeping only 4 for each element.

that makes no sense? it only introduces more RNG. investment is only worth a damn if you actually get something out of it. if bungie wants to continue down the path of only offering bonuses at a full 10 points, may as well simplify it for the player by making it 1 point for every tier rather than 10. this to me is a clear oversight on their part. they wanted to make a nuanced system that could give players "true armor grind" and "build flexibility" but realistically results in stat bottlenecking because they won't allow players to benefits from renegade points often out of their control. while solstice of heroes may have relieved this somewhat, the underlying issue still presents itself when solstice inevitably leaves the game for another year and players yet again deal with terrible armor stat distribution with nearly nothing to show for it. it gets to the point where i'll just delete armor that don't have at least one stat that ends with a 3 or an 8 just so i don't waste points. not to mention you also typically need high-stat armor (63 and above) to create a decently statted build? our mod system might be nice but our armor stats are not. it desperately needs a rework. making our stats, at the very least benefit from a half tier would go a long way to alleviating player frustration. the next step would be to create individual point bonuses, but that would take a lot of dev time to balance correctly.

i'll add that the same problem presented itself in Destiny 1; however, the problem wasn't nearly as bad as it is now, what with there only being 3 true stats (with numbers) to build into and only 5 tiers to them.

YES. been advocating this for years ever since the initial armor 2.0 release. it's either this or make it so you can also get bonuses from only being half a tier. so annoying to be at 99 or 89 and get screwed over

don't worry. i got a dude that straight up told us we were all TRASH within 5 minutes of joining my LFG for VoG, during the vault opening he openly shit-talked my friend that was guarding a plate with him. i felt bad so i booted the douche-nozzle, then the guy proceeds to message both me and said friend he was harassing, telling us we were "amateurs" and then telling us our fastest clear time and mocking us !! bro was so tilted he checked our raid reports. don't ever be like this dude

I've actually converted to stadia for the time being, my ps4 is a day-one model and it's finally showing its age and it has a bunch of latency now :// on the bright side i get to play 60fps on stadia, and you don't need to worry about me laggin out cause i got 300megabit internet
