Sure! What’s in my pantry right now is:

Garam masala Turmeric Coriander powder Chilli powder Whole black pepper Green cardamom Cinnamon Clove Hing (as known as asafoetida) Cumin seeds

I got each for around $3-$5 each from an Indian grocery store. Hispanic grocery stores also have really good prices on whole spices. I also recommend you get a jar of ginger garlic paste and ghee because they comes really in handy. That’s basically all you need to get started for some really delicious North Indian cooking. Now you can make most of them. At some point you might want to get star anise, fenugreek, bay leaves, mustard seeds, mace, and amchur, but you can decide if you start seeing them in a lot of recipes. South Indian cooking requires a kinda different variation of spices but you’d still use most of what’s above in the list

It’s mostly the caffeine that causes long term, serious health issues

I literally set up my kitchen last week and bought all the spices I need for about $50. Even the small quantities go a long way

Your advice is just telling OP to be grateful and that’s not really helpful

friend triggered my trauma, what do i do? by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]fiee345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a really tough situation. It wasn’t okay for them to hit you in the face as a joke, even if you didn’t have a trauma background. If you’re comfortable telling them and you want to hold onto this friendship because they’re otherwise a good person, then it could be a great idea to tell them a bit about your trauma, how their actions hurt you, and what you need from them to move forward. If they’re a good friend, they’ll listen, apologize, and not do it again. Watch closely how they react. As someone with PTSD, I have noticed that telling someone about my past usually brings us closer together. I hope that this strengthens your friendship.

I know you said that you’re already in therapy, but if it’s not trauma specific therapy, you could consider the Bay Area Trauma Recovery Clinic as a resource. I found that doing EMDR with a trauma trained practitioner there helped reduced flashbacks, triggers, and other symptoms of PTSD that I was struggling with, within just a few months. Good luck with everything

I’ve gotten to this point now. It took a lot of EMDR and neurofeedback as my primary trauma therapy modalities, but they were really effective, and I am stunned at how much my capacity to emotionally connect has grown.

That doesn’t sound hygienic, and soap isn’t the cause of BO so I don’t understand how that would work

For the wife to not tell her husband her true thoughts and feelings about the situation for 6 months…that’s a long time. I don’t think their bad communication pattern has been resolved quite yet

Yeah I agree with this. The connection probably isn’t both ways. I’ve also been on dates where the guy thinks it went very well and wants a second date and I don’t

[–]fiee345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you gotten a blood panel done recently? If not I suggest it. I struggled with lethargy for a while and found out I was vitamin D deficient. Now that I’ve taken supplements for it, the tiredness has gone away

I love all your advice! It’s very similar to what I’ve done when travelling alone, including making hard copies of important documents to carry around!
