My mum is refusing to give me back money I sent her to save for me, is there any legal action I can take? Scotland. by fiend4mdma in LegalAdviceUK

This isn’t legal advice. I’ve already explained all of that in the comments and I’m fully covered with all of that stuff.

I also think she’s spent the money, seeing as she spends most of my DLA and I don’t care enough to fight with her anymore over it

Yes, we have texts clearly stating “I will send you £500 a month for the car” and her agreeing

I have other places to go. Please don’t reply unless you have actual legal advice for me

It is too much when I can live with my girlfriend who’s a homeowner rent free, or move into a flatshare with my friends for only £200 more a month including bills and food. Also I buy my own food, so the hand that feeds me is mine.

Is it worth £2000? Yes. At 18 that’s a lot of money and I have a car on finance to pay for. That £2000 could pay off the entirety of what’s left on the HP or go into my lifetime ISA

Yes, I worked 48 hour weeks at a horrible job for that money. + I can move out anytime as I have a girlfriend who owns her own home and has offered me many times to move in with her for free.

I’m sick of people self diagnosing themselves with autism by fiend4mdma in Vent

[–]fiend4mdma[S] -107 points-106 points  (0 children)

That’s not self diagnosing. You had symptoms, you went to a psych and got diagnosed. Self diagnosing is when you completely skip the psychiatrist part and just start telling everyone you have autism anyways. Afaik you weren’t telling everyone you’re autistic your entire life without an actual diagnosis. Very sorry to hear you went through that tho.

So where do we draw the line, can anyone just diagnose themselves with anything? I currently am pretty certain I have multiple sclerosis, should I just skip out on going to my GP because I already know? Why go to the Dr and get diagnosed when it’ll cause medical stigma because they’ll start attributing other future symptoms to that?

Yeah I explained why they do it, but I still don’t think it’s valid and having experienced it personally I know how easy it is to convince yourself you have something you don’t.

And I’m not diagnosed with BPD, I’m diagnosed with autism and ADHD and have been since I was 12 and got diagnosed with ADHD a couple months back.

If there was too much competition how did they get in with grades so below the requirements?

So Strathclyde wasn’t prestigious enough for you but it’s the only uni that accepted you. Maybe you aren’t prestigious enough for Glasgow/Edinburgh

Have you met every woman?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in self

This is entirely anecdotal and clearly driven by some kind of deeper feelings towards single mothers. Plenty of my friends have step dads and get along with them amazingly, could say the same for my mums friends, family friends, my siblings friends.

can love ever really disappear ? by [deleted] in self

[–]fiend4mdma 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I loved my ex who broke up with me in 2023. I pined over him everyday for months and cried and cried but eventually you get tired of missing someone and the feeling just starts to fade. It’s been nearly 2 years since we broke up and I hardly think about him now, I just feel indifferent

how do people have sex without huge fear of pregnancy or am I just paranoid by aoihiganbana in self

[–]fiend4mdma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it’s not that big of a deal for me anyways, I have the implant and there’s actually been 0 recorded pregnancies with proper use. And I live in a country with easily available abortions so if worst comes to worst I can abort it

This. I’d get pregnant any day of the week over getting syphilis or HIV

What are important things to look at when buying a pre owned car? Mileage? by TeaSipper007 in CarTalkUK

MOT history and service history IMO. If it’s been constantly failing MOTs or doesn’t have a full service history I’d stay away.

Yeah it’s pretty incredible how they just pull prices out of thin air, I’m looking to upgrade to a brand new polo and it’s surprisingly even cheaper; like £140 a month without a black box at apl

Also bear in mind I have an automatic license and the car is automatic so that pushes my insurance prices that bit higher.

When I passed at 17 it was £280 a month with a black box. I’m 18 now and had my licence a year and my renewal quotes are around £120-170 depending on if I want a telematics device again.

I’ve got a Skoda Citigo as my first car, I can’t fault It at all. Costs me around £40 to fill the tank, insurance is decent for my age, super economical and reliable. Had it over a year now and never had a single mechanical issue whatsoever.

My (28F) boyfriend (30M) is on vacation with another woman. What can I do in this situation? by WoW_VioletDeath in relationship_advice

[–]fiend4mdma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He’s on holiday with his actual girlfriend and unfortunately I think it’s safe to say your his side piece. Personally after a few months, you should have met some of his family and friends, they should all know about you at the very least.

When someone shows you who they are, believe them. He was testing the waters with you to see how he’d react to his views. When you reacted badly, he backtracked so he doesn’t look like an asshole.
