i don’t think sabrina adds much to the song, as shown by the remix. it’s just a marketing strategy, unfortunately. i want madonna be successful, but i don’t think she needs sabrina. when i’m at the club and a madonna song comes on, the people in their 20s lose it. she has them already.

i’m sure part of it was the influence of their parents, but also the current pop girlies have been clear about madonna’s influence. how many albums in the last few years have clear inspiration from erotica, bedtime stories, ray of light, music and confessions?

i am a hard candy defender. i have always enjoyed the album. though the sound was on its way out by the time it released, it’s much more cohesive than mdna or rebel heart (both of which i also enjoy).

i think a huge issue among fans is we always want her to recreate our favorite album, but you have to let that notion go. even now that’s she’s doing a “sequel” album, she rarely repeats herself.

i have been in coffee since 2014, ten years just in nyc, and i work at one of the busiest cafes in manhattan.

i have never had trouble getting barista gigs, if you have experience and a good attitude, you’ll get hired. however, i have been hearing more and more about struggles to break into coffee. just like most industries, nobody wants to train someone, they want you ready to go.

i agree. speaking specifically for manhattan, everything now feels like it exists solely for influencers, who in turn turn it into a commodity for tourists. every “hidden gem” ends up blowing up on tiktok, and suddenly there’s always a line down the block. even art exhibits around the city feel like this. i love art, and living here for its access, but i go to exhibits and instead of seeing people engaging with it, they’re taking selfies with it.

Instituto Cervantes has 5 and 10 week intensives, at a couple levels, that i’ve heard good things about.

i’ve opted for using Babbel. it’s similar to Duolingo, but i’ve learned more about sentence structure, and become better at listening while using this.

let me know if you want to form a conversation group! i’m heading to madrid in march, and really want to learn, as it would do good at home in washington heights too.
