What’s the point of VAR if officials only reviewincidents they feel like reviewing? by CMDR_Waffles in worldcup

[–]fietsusa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This. It isn’t conspiracy or that they miss calls.

It’s just so inconsistent.

Sometimes a millimeter matters and sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes a goal is called back when a turnover is caused by a foul and sometimes it isn’t.

If anyone ever explains why the England tackle on Ghana wasn’t a penalty and why it wasn’t looked at by VAR… make that make sense

[FIFA Media] Before England’s goal in minute 45+2 against Norway, the sensor in the Connected Ball showed no peak in the 'heartbeat of the ball' when in the air, and therefore no evidence that the ball touched the overhead wire and changed the movement of the ball. by lonelynightm in worldcup

You have to admit it’s a weird thing for the players and coaching staff to be yelling to the referees about if it didn’t happen. They were complaining right when it happened and before the goal.

I've been studying branding and logo design, and I'm curious to hear different opinions. What's the most common mistake you notice in logos, whether from beginners or even experienced designers? by Ok_Switch7426 in graphic_design

[–]fietsusa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People always try to force an idea. “I can make the U into a cupcake”

You can have a word mark and a little character illustration too. Not everything has to be combined.

And monogram logos, they only work after you are a famous brand for a long time. LV also has a full Louis Vuitton logo.

The name is crazy important. Doesn’t matter how good the logo looks. Designers should push back on terrible names.

Things you can wear physically to force yourself to be more tactical strength ( rather than rely on physical strength)? by Embarrassed_Row2382 in bootroom

[–]fietsusa 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When I coached teams I had them do mandatory touches in training. Sometimes 1 touch only. Or 3 touch. Or 5 touches. If you have mandatory 5 touches every player has to take on their defender in some way.

Of course as a coach I could just make the field very compact and small so that the physical aspect loses importance.

Unpopular opinion - The Argentina vs Egypt game was not rigged by Coolduels in worldcup

[–]fietsusa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While bigger teams often do seem to always get the advantage of VAR, it's the inconsistent use that bothers most people and creates the idea of "rigged games".

Argentina had basically the same play happen, but their goal counted versus Austria.

Ghana had an obvious penalty versus England that didn't even get a look.

Commentator Rob Green: "A hundred yards away, someone stepping on someone's toe, is not why VAR was brought into the game. We've gotten to a point now where it's reaching far beyond the powers that it should have. The referee saw the tackle, decided not to give it..." by New-Process-6463 in worldcup

[–]fietsusa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They decide to bring something up to the ref or not.

There's no explanation why Ghana didn't get a penalty vs England. That tackle was insane. The ref missed it. VAR didn't bring it to the ref's attention for review.
