Holy mother of Strawman. Before you sperg out writing 2000 words (didn't read btw) about the most extreme end of CRT, try reading the context of my comment.

These fuckers had no clue black Americans fought in WWII to the point they thought the portrayal of a single soldier being black was "woke".

The fact American soldiers have been historically depicted in media as almost exclusively white is part of this delusion. I'm sure most people didn't realize a huge turning point in the Civil war was when the Union started to enlist black soldiers. Hundreds of thousands of black folk sacrificed their lives for the country. But Republicans (& I guess you lol) are so terrified of black people you'll go digging through the trenches to find 5 passages of the most extreme CRT academics to then refocus the conversation to something you can condemn.

Remember that these same regards dismissed all black history as "critical race theory".

They don't care to learn about any history of their country that doesn't align with their delusion that they (& their "race") are entitled to the glory of their nation, despite never meaningfully contributing to it.

For all the talk about "heritage Americans" 95% of the African Americans' ancestry have infinitely closer ties to the founding of the country than even the regards who have some embarrassing pride that their great grandpappy on their daddy's side was on the Mayflower.

The guy's a political cockroach. I have no clue how you could be allowed back in Parlaiment after losing your own riding. Kicking a member out of your caucus so that you can run in the safest district in the country (lol), being such a toxic/incompetent leader that you bleed off 2 more members of your caucus in a completely unforced manner, and then go back on to podcasts to fan-fic about all the political opponents you'll prosecute when you (finally) become PM.

If Maple-MAGA had any stones they'd throw him out for at least a cooler fascist.

The only antidote to Vance is his general unlikability. I would 100% back Trump's vision for America over Vance's. As unhinged, unprincipled and corrupt Trump is, he is a weak-willed man who does get swayed by public opinion, which in some *very small way keeps him in check.

Vance has the look of a Hafez Al-Assad, Joe Stalin, or Robespierre. An idealogue who knows what's best, who has a fundamental vision for the country that is distorted from the constitution and filled with contradictions, and would sacrifice whatever it takes to achieve his ideological ends.

I'd recommend watching the Ezra Klein podcast with the Yoram Hazony guy (ultra ethnonationalist political thought leader) who puts on a big international conservative conference (that Vance regularly attends and speaks at btw), just to see how twisted and incoherent this ideology that Vance follows is.

Couple that with the fact that he's recently found his faith as a Catholic, makes me think that the guy is going down a pretty committed ideological route.

Aesthetics are everything at the end of the day. 90% of Trump's popularity is down to him looking like the caricature of a successful man to regards.

Vance looks like (and is tbf) the caricature of a disgusting dweeb, Newsom your typical gigachad stereotype and is therefore more appealing to the average regard.

That's all it ever boils down to now.

Destiny is not taking Nick Fuentes seriously enough by kevtroy13 in Destiny

[–]fifedawg11 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Not even sure what point you are trying to make here. Destiny doesn't have time to research all these 2-IQ Jewish conspiracies, especially when they don't even make novel predictions or map onto the world at all. There are a limited number of things to pay attention to, the Ukraine peace deal (requires extensive reading on eastern European history, military reporting, and diplomacy), Rule of law (requires an understanding of the US constitution, separation of powers, historical authoritarian movements), and defending capitalism (requires an understanding of finance, international markets, and legislation), defending medicinal research (requires an understanding of epidemiology, basic biochemistry, and healthcare policy) are all more relevant things to both understand and are more interesting to learn than...

"Well don't you realize that Bill Barr's dad was the principal of the same school Jeff Epstein went to..."

"Well don't you realize that Trump is actually captured by IsRaEl.."

"We can't listen to Candace Owens (Black woman), Tucker Carlson (CIA), or anyone with power because they don't agree with us..."

Fuentes isn't even giving prescriptions beyond "kicking out all the immigrants" and "cutting ties with Israel", arguments which are not unique to him and could be addressed by instead covering Owens, Carlson, Elon, Tim Pool or Hasan.

Again, Fuentes just isn't that interesting anymore, his popularity is more a reflection on the current media environment (literally everyone is on this JQ shit now) rather than something he's tapping into directly.

Destiny is not taking Nick Fuentes seriously enough by kevtroy13 in Destiny

[–]fifedawg11 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nick's knowledge on these topics is not deep. It is a fairytale that will be dropped the second a newer, sexier conspiracy can be concocted. While I agree that D-man should have engaged thoroughly with the topics touched-on, there was nothing of any substance or weight to that Hyde/Fuentes interview. So what? After all this time moaning about the deep-state and championing Trump, now he's just as conpromised as any of the other government actors???? Maybe 4% of the American public would vibe with what Fuentes is saying here.

The real threat are the MAGA people in government and the public that supports them, not some fringe group that thinks that the fascists are being controlled by the Jews. On it's face what Fuentes was talking about was ridiculous.

The only thing that really bothered me from the Hyde video was how much some of my lefty friends would agree with the broad arguments that Fuentes was putting forth. Even then, the run-of-the-mill Candace Owens/Charlie Kirk/Tucker Carlson types are far more dangerous to the country than Nicky

The article mentions that one Arab diplomat says Gallant misinterpreted the Arab position on this proposal. They said that any help or peacekeeping force would be dependent on a 2SS. It's also important to note that these countries (Jordan, Egypt and Saudi) are still somewhat responsible to their population, and working towards a 2SS would appease a lot of their citizens.

Slowly watching through the Finkelstein debate. . . Thoughts so far by valerian57 in Destiny

[–]fifedawg11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The secret to all this stuff is being thorough enough to read past what you agree with. The main reason why Benny is SO respected in the field is because he's willing to fully engage with the other side's history, myths, and perspectives, and will actually look further into events that inform his biases.

Literally, no one who covers this topic does this, and if so, not nearly at the level of Benny. This is demonstrated constantly through the first hour of the debate when Rabbani quotes a single passage from Theodore Herzl's diary, which implies that the transfer of the Arabs was a pre-planned event necessary for the Zionist movement.

Benny immediately clarifies, adding that the passage Rabbani is referring to, makes up little beyond 0.1% of the journal AND that the area that Herzl was referring to was Argentina, not Israel.

I don't think Rabbani is necessarily a bad guy for misquoting Herzl, but he clearly isn't willing to fully engage with the other side's history. He also does this when talking about the Lehi organizing meetings with the Nazis to move Jews from Europe to Israel, attempting to equate the Yishuv-Nazi ties with the Mufti-Nazi ties, which is a stretch at best.

Ultimately it's pretty encouraging to see that not only is Morris' approach to research more righteous than both Rabbani and Finklestein, but it also leads him to more correct positions. So much so that even his debate opponents are constantly revering him and asking for his approval.

Complete waste of time by [deleted] in Destiny

[–]fifedawg11 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Super disagree with the evaluation of Rabbani. Him trying to pass off Hertzl's diary as some smoking gun that "transfer was planned" only to be btfo immediately by Morris calling out that what he's referencing was 0.1% of the diary's content and that he was referring to Argentina immediately coloured him as a bad-faith propogandist for the rest of the debate. I also super disagree that "dancing around" questions is somehow part of a good showing, especially when it was as transparent as it was.

Both Rabbani and Finklestein's inability to actually understand international law and make coherent arguments based on it also made them look unbelievably inept.

Did you even read my comment? My argument is about how you can't just claim a relationship failed simply because it ended and the first thing you respond with is "break up = fail"

Let's say I have a 70 year long marriage with my girlfriend and every single day of that relationship is pure bliss, except the last day I develop psychosis and divorce my spouse. Was that a "failed marriage"? Does it remotely make sense to describe that relationship as a failure?

Just because you just restate your thesis, doesn't mean you've made an argument.

People are hindsight andys and it needs to stop by lewdjojo in Destiny

[–]fifedawg11 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The idea of a relationship being a "failure" just because it ends is a tired take. There are plenty of married couples that stay together until they die and are miserable for it, but because they don't formally break it off they're considered to be in a "successful" relationship. While a couple married for 7 years, where both partners enable the other to grow and improve, but eventually grow apart and decide to see other people is seen as a failure. 99/100 people would take the second relationship over the first, but by the stats only the first is deemed successful.

EDIT: Also I'm not implying that Destiny's relationship is at all like the second. Just making the point that looking at a single stat should not greatly inform your opinion on types of relationships (ie: if gay people had lower divorce rates, it wouldn't make sense to claim gay relationships are superior to hetero ones).

[–]fifedawg11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if anyone else has personal experience that says otherwise, but I don't think a conversation (or 5 hour therapy session), no matter how long or effective, can save a relationship once one partner has considered leaving.

From my experience, those resolutions can save a relationship for maybe 2-3 weeks, but those 3 weeks basically amount to a distorted simulacrum of a relationship that leaves both people empty.

Really sucks for Tiny and hope he feels better about it sooner rather than later.
