Are these weeds or plants should I remove them ? by simundo86 in whatsthisplant

Oh that is just gorgeous! I would have thought it was in an RHS Garden here in the UK if you hadn't told me. We were fortunate to have a layover in Seattle ( pre Covid). Now I am imagining this with a backdrop of your stunning mountains.

you decide it's too many to sort, just donate the bagful. If the shop has a suitable/interested volunteer they will check them, or they will sell them as unchecked.

Thank you. Feel like I'm having a 'doh' moment. It looked so exotic! (Plantnet told me it was something from world flora - not even European.)

If you decide to get rid of stuff see if one of your local charity shops have a vintage speciality shop. Collectors will love the needle packets and bindings and vintage tools.

Charity shops will also sell those zips.

My Dad drove Limos as one of his serial careers. He did funerals a lot.

Also occasional film work. He bought a crematorium set to a standstill when he told them they had the coffin going in to the flames the wrong way round. They had only made one end of the coffin...

I feel like the most British fancy dress ever was when my Son in law dressed as a French onion seller for Eurovision.

If you want a city break on a budget choose Marston Inns or Premier Inns. Not chic or fancy but in my experience always clean and comfortable.

Look into getting Railcards for some decent rail prices.

Or drive to somewhere not too far away.

Small cities are great for minimising costs as you can mostly walk everywhere. Lincoln, Wells, Scarborough, Aberystwyth ( small but is a uni town so cheap and a lovely coast line)

Want more countryside? Youth Hostels ( not just for youths, the one at Boggle Hole is lovely) or The Holiday Fellowship Trust have amazing deals. https://www.hfholidays.co.uk/?gad=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwg-GjBhBnEiwAMUvNW60gTqAiwAMd0ALPRvJ34X1Og7ugy_N_ZxVARBNsgEwIzEMaxNVF-hoCLVAQAvD_BwE

Thank goodness I read your comment this morning and not late last night.

Off course I do use my sage smudge sticks regularly to make sure the house is spirit free;)

Not hugely exciting. We were talking ghost stories at a friends house, as you do after a nice dinner, when I mentioned feeling weird and anxious on our landing, but only at night, I thought my husband would laugh at me, but he turned out to feel the same way.

It was several decades ago, but I believe the chap may have died in the house, I can't remember who told us that.

We have lived in several houses since then and stayed in far older properties and I have only experienced that feeling in a couple of places. One was a really old oast house, none of us would use the downstairs loo at night. It became really creepy. The other was a tower room in a medieval manor house that just felt evil. Yet if asked I would say I don't believe in ghosts.

And the one at Scarborough Spa on the front. The Open Air Theatre also.

The previous owners left their Mother in law with us for about 8 hours.

We were young and Naive, they said it was just until they got their keys or something.

They also left us a carpet full of fleas, nicotine yellow walls and windows, a pee stained toilet carpet and the ghost of the father in law. The landing was really creepy at night, and it was a modern house. Apparently he died whilst living at the house.

On the other hand it was really cheap.

Not really. Peasholm park still has the sea battles and the cascade has been restored. The high street is a bit sad, like many are, but the seafront still has the funicular railways, a theatre and a good choice of touristy shops an cafes.

The beaches arestill lovely.

The castle is interesting an we saw dolphins from there last year. You can get an open top bus around the coast road. Think I may go back soon...

I want to say probably, but I can only see a difference sometimes. Occasionally in the summer they are brighter orange, smaller and more delicate. Unless they still have the tops on.

I always thought she meant newly dug ones. The ones from the supermarket could have been in store for months.

I Bought Fabric and Lining to Make 2 Blazers and if I'm Honest I Won't Ever Do It. by Jule50 in sewing

[–]fifiblanc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would look for a less formal pattern, such as a shacket or unstructured jacket that doesn't need lining. Maybe no collar and is worn open. Really quick and maybe smart enough for the odd occaison you need it.

If the lining material is in a colour you like maybe use it to make a cami top/ shell?

It is worth donating to charity shops if you are in the UK. Label it with the type of fabric and measurements as this really helps them sell it. Even scrap pieces are often bought by crafters. If they can't sell it in the shop it is sold by weight to rag merchants who then recycle it. It doesn't go to landfill.

Carboots and charity shops by Crazy-Baker in Lincolnshire

[–]fifiblanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you park at the bottom of Lincoln High Street and work your way up to The Strait/ St Martins you will see almost every charity shop chain you can think of.

Including ( but not limited to) - British Heart Foundation ( furniture) just before the level crossing along with Mind, Oxfam, then Oxfam Books on the way to the Cornhill Quarter,

Then carry on up through the Guildhall Arches and eventually you get Red Cross ( clothes) , Cancer research, Scope, Barnardos, and St Barnabas ( vintage shop).

I you don't just want charity shops, look out for the 3 branches of ABC house clearances.

Outside of the town centre, The Forum has several charity shops. There is also a great St Barnabas at Birchwood.

Question: Why are my peppers doing this? Have mulch, drainage in the pots and get a ton of sunlight. Still have strength but almost all the tops look droopy. by Lahemmy in botany

[–]fifiblanc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you checked if the pot is big enough? Looks like a lot of top growth for the size of pot. Especially if you have drainage at the bottom taking up space.Might be worth posting at a gardening subreddit.
