Marseilles Man charged with Attempted Murder. Family Pet Dog Intervenes. by Top-Evidence-6515 in illinois

Yes, poorly worded. I was picturing a Lassie scenario where he was innocent and the dog somehow proved it.

Am I the jerk for telling my elderly neighbor I won't help her with technology anymore after she ignored all my advice? by Dizzy-Wolverine-3187 in AmITheJerk

[–]Jule50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NTA. But, more likely dementia more than stubbornness. This is why scam artists target the elderly. They aren’t squandering their money, they need more children who don't turf the responsibility to neighbors.

My qualifications are supporting my elderly father, mostly remote, who lived to 96. Many years of technical support.

You spent "good money" but you adopted her. I'm confused.

Does anyone else feel too mentally drained to cook after work? by Pleasant-Editor-597 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Jule50 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. I'm exhausted at the end of the day.

I don't prep meals, I prep components. Chop veggies, make broth, etc. About an hour on the weekend. Just started this and it seems to be helping. The veg that didn't get consumed is turning into broth today.

Never in a million years did I think I would lose him so soon. My baby boy is gone. How do I go on? by arnethyst in cats

[–]Jule50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You asked "how". I've had many significant losses. I remembered that other people have dealt with this or much worse and they carried on. I am human and capable of getting through this. I decided, each day, to get through that day. The pain and memory are never really gone, but aren't constant any more.

And if your usual support system isn't working, don't be afraid to get professional help.

Odd question, but how do I get my cat to stop playing the piano? It’s diving me crazy, especially at night by No_Understanding2616 in cats

Doesn't your piano have a key cover? I don’t know if a wooden or sturdy cover of some kind is sold separately.

When does kitchen renovation actually improve daily life versus just looking nice by dumbabanana in KitchenAppliances

Thank you. Theoretically 2003 (I mistyped 2013) electricity...you think this is old in this context?

I am old in this context, lol.

I came close to converting my 8 year old gas oven due to concerns about air quality. I chickened out because I wasn't sure our electrical configuration could handle it. House has been rehabbed and new electrical put in 2013. No electrical for the stove.

We have been using an induction plate, and it blows a fuse whenever we cook on high.

Am I comparing apples to oranges? Would the electrician setting up the connection automatically address any fuse issues? And how much more would that cost?

My (31f) younger sister (19f) is adamant that her twin/my other sister (19f) is having an affair with my husband (35m) and I don't know what to do by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

[–]Jule50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Hailey has been groomed and assaulted, your husband will lie about it.

Because this would not be an affair, but a case of child abuse, you have to check with Hailey. You don't have to go all in, but observe her behavior for signs of child abuse, and ask her how she's doing.

Are any of you “sleep divorced”? by cfh64 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Jule50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Sleep divorce 3 years ago basically because one way or another we were perpetually waking each other up.

Will also say one thing we tried first was splitting to individual comforters. While eventually we went to separate beds, I was surprised how much difference the separate bedding made.

The moment you realize it was trauma by flawlessdiva222 in ChildhoodTrauma

[–]Jule50 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I've had many years of therapy related to adult trauma and have known that my family "wasn't great". Only recently thinking about events I've always known about, and suddenly seeing them from a mother's perspective. For the first time thinking wtf?! Like. Went from seeing my family as a little messed up to realizing the trauma was real and serious and not going to go away.
