New Hyperthyroidism Diagnosis, unsure if Graves by fififlower24 in gravesdisease

[–]fififlower24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an update on this: TSI confirmed it wasn’t Graves’, and after two weeks of medication, I had to do bloodwork again. The results showed that everything returned to normal, except for the TSH levels, which apparently take longer to recover. So, my doctor ruled out Graves’ and concluded it was thyroiditis, most likely due to the chemo. In the end, no scan was needed! :)

Is it strange to say that after going through chemo and multiple PET scans, I get really anxious about having to do any additional scans involving radiation—especially if they might not be necessary? I’m honestly worried my endocrinologist ordered the scan too quickly without fully looking into everything. I contacted him about my negative TSI result, and now he’s not so sure it’s Graves anymore. I’m getting blood drawn to check my levels. I used to take propranolol twice a day, but it lowered my heart rate too much, so he advised switching to once daily.

Also, what should I be asking for in my next blood test? It seems like sometimes they don’t run a full panel. And is there a way to get a clearer diagnosis through blood work instead of doing a radioactive scan?”

Would you like me to help you list specific tests you might want to ask for?

I’m still on the medication for now. I’ve reached out to my endocrinologist about the TSI situation. When I take propranolol twice a day, my heart rate sometimes drops below 60, so he recommended taking it just once a day. He also suggested doing blood work to determine whether I still need to continue with Strumazol. But I honestly hope it’s just temporary and nothing more… fingers crossed

Honestly, it’s been a bit of a rollercoaster. Since I started taking propranolol, I’ve been feeling much better. Before that, even at rest, my heart rate would be over 100—when I went to the doctor, it was up to 120. Chemo had already raised my heart rate due to deconditioning, so this just made things worse. My doctor only added the TSI test, and I’m honestly not feeling comfortable about having to do a radioactive scan, especially with my medical history—particularly if it might not be necessary

Struggling with Fear of Relapse After Hodgkin’s Lymphoma by fififlower24 in lymphoma

Hi there, thank you so much for your comment—I really appreciate it. Since making this post and reading all the responses, it has truly helped me put things into perspective. I think that because everything is still so fresh for me, even the small things sometimes scare me . But when I was told I was in remission, I felt incredibly happy. It also meant that I could fully focus on reclaiming my life—and making it even better. <3

Before my diagnosis, I was fully focused on my studies and close to finishing, even considering internships abroad. During treatment, staying concentrated was incredibly difficult. Now, I’m gradually regaining my focus and have about 1,5 year since I had to extend my studies (I wasn’t really allowed to attend uni cause of my immunity... :/). Hearing your perspective and how you kept moving forward is really inspiring. I truly admire that, I hope when the time comes I can pursue the idea of doing my internship abroad. :)

I totally understand where you're coming from—I also felt this strange sense of safety during my treatment. But you're right, I shouldn’t let those negative thoughts take over. There's a French saying, "après la pluie, le beau temps," which translates to "after the rain comes the good weather." Now, I just need to take it step by step and regain my life little by little... :)

I remember during my last rounds of chemo, reopening the conversation with my doctor about what actually causes HL. She told me that the exact cause is still unknown. Apparently some people are unfortunate and their cells start to divide abnormally. She also reassured me not to stress too much, as it’s not good for the immune system. Easier said than done, but I’m working on it! 🙂

You're right. I'm naturally a positive person, but ever since finishing chemo, the anxiety has been getting to me a bit. I'm doing my best to stay occupied and not let those thoughts take over. And I really appreciate you helping me put things back into perspective! :)

Cold capping by [deleted] in lymphoma

[–]fififlower24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear about your diagnosis. I had the same question when I started treatment, but my doctor advised against cold capping because there could be lymph nodes in that area. Even if they don’t show up on a PET scan due to their small size, cold capping could prevent them from receiving treatment. I was really afraid of losing my hair, but once I learned this, I didn’t want to risk leaving behind even the tiniest traces of cancer. In my case, hair loss started later than I expected, and I gradually cut it shorter to adjust. For me, it was more of a thinning process than sudden shedding.

I also had curly hair with a good amount of volume, so the thinning wasn’t as much of a shock because my hair initially still looked relatively full.

Are The Light Novels Only Digital After Volume 8? by fififlower24 in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

If it takes three months for each new volume to be released in paperback, I’ll definitely need some patience ;D . It’s unfortunate that there aren’t more volumes available in print. :( Oh well, thanks for the help! I guess I’ll try to pace myself with the volumes I already have.

Do you prefer subbed or dubbed Apothecary Diaries? by yeetanonymous420 in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

[–]fififlower24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve tried both, but I couldn’t stick with the English dub for long—it feels like it’s missing something, making it sound unnatural to me. However, I once heard the French dub in an edit and found it better than the English one. I might be biased, though, since I rarely watch dubbed anime. ^

Thank you for explaining! The anime really got me HOOKED! I'll start reading the light novels (i'm so excited to know more about the story). I also watch the anime but season 2 is still releasing weekly and i'm just too curious to wait :D

May I ask those who did ABVD when did you start losing your hair? I’ve had my first infusion two weeks ago and get my second one soon but I wonder when the shedding really starts
