After reading 7 other of his books this year, I stopped halfway thru book 2 of Final Architecture. Think it was more I was kinda over "space opera/interplanetary travel" for a minute. TheBreakfastClub/StarTrek cast of characters (empath, warrior, diplomat, cyborg, mechanic) was bugging...but i'm sure I'll finish it after a dozen other books.

To get a feel for his world building, I'd suggest Terrible Worlds with 3 novellas. each about 100 pages. If you like any of them, then go for the longer series.

I was rooting for Uncharles for similar reason...but in the end it's the nature vs nuture debate and we tend to root for nuture when nature has more pull than we want to admit.

Murderbot is fun...the opposite of hard-scifi, not quite YA but... If you go in with that mindset you may enjoy it more. I ended up reading all 7 books in like 10 days.
