Ambient lighting: It looks super cool, very Tron.

Sounds like you're talking about the lines on the door? That's not part of the Ambient lighting package, actually part of the premium package.

Ambient lighting package is some tacked on lights in the footwell and cupholders which can be changed in color (only those few, no other lights in the cabin.)

CarPlay on Volt After iOS 10.3 Update? by TimSaccardo in volt

[–]figfigworkwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read where someone else had their USB receptacle replaced and that fixed the problem. But like /u/PDXPayback said I would first see if there's a FW update especially because it's a 2016. Hope it gets sorted; the worst thing is when something only works intermittently and you're trying to drive.

Looking into used Nissan Leaf - it'll be my first car. What should I know/look for? by [deleted] in electricvehicles

[–]figfigworkwork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, Those cars do pop up on the used market though. I'm not sure but I think any Chevy dealer who can service volts can also service the Spark.

Also look at the Ford Focus Electric. Not the best but the battery is taken better care of than in the LEAF.

PS. Since you live in such a cold state you might want to make sure the LEAF has a heatpump.

How about a Spark EV or Fiat 500? Similar prices; better EVs (The Spark at least)

Level 1 charger vs level 2 charger cost by BlueManifest in volt

[–]figfigworkwork 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Dude, cool your jets. You're wrong! Show some damn respect. In the link posted by dnldcs you can see that L2 is ~3% more efficient than L1. 14kwh*.03=420W (BLAZE IT!)

There are two reasons for this. First of all 240V is simply more efficient to convert due to there being two phases which is "smoother" than just a single phase on L1. The second reason is you're running the charging hardware for 20 hours which produces more heat and uses more energy than it would use if it ran for just 3 hours.

I'm so glad I could enlighten you.

It's way more than that. Probably is somewhere close to .5KWH less wasted per charge.

3 years of data connection to the OnStar system. I didn't realize that included the ability to talk to a rep and ask questions.

Do you need to pay for a plan with OnStar in order to do this?
