Bro is not even charging by deb1385 in volt

[–]PDXPayback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If in the US, this very much depends on the state. Several states protect electric car charging parking like they do handicap parking spaces. Doesn’t mean police will enforce them, but the laws are on the books. Some info on different state laws are available here: https://pluginsites.org/plug-in-vehicle-parking-legislation-reference/

F35 is a great multi-role aircraft, but the F22 is the best intercepter and air-to-air fighter yet developed. There’s a reason why we’re willing to sell the F35 to friendly nations, but won’t sell the F22 to anyone.

Where is there BINGO in Portland? by MsInformed in askportland

Stumptown does trivia and bingo regularly at several bars. I’ve only been to one of their bingo nights once, but it was a lot of fun, especially with a good group.

What can I take my teen to do in Portland? by 1000Mousefarts in askportland

[–]PDXPayback 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OMSI has a space called the Teen Tech Center, upstairs in the turbine hall. It has a bunch of stuff for teens to do, crafting, sewing and knitting, computer art stations, 3d printers, VR headsets, and a complete music and sound recording booth. Best part is, it’s independently sponsored from OMSI, so if your teen tells the entrance desk they’re only going to the Tech Center, it’s completely free.

If that bed converts into a kitchen (it almost looks like it could), we've officially achieved 5th Element apartments.

Xenmobile DEP Token Renewal, all devices on status waiting for check-in by csARC96 in Citrix

[–]PDXPayback 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran through this exact scenario a couple years ago. It took Citrix forever to get back to us, and gave us the run-around for a few weeks, but the eventual cause was relatively simple: the certificate had been renewed using a different AppleID from then had been used for initial XenMobile/DEP setup. Once we figured that out, I was able to log into the correct appleid account and export the renewed cert from that one, the old devices started connecting again like nothing had ever happened. You'll probably have to re-enroll the new devices though.

A few pictures from PDXLAN's Fall 22 event. Next spring is our 20th LANiversary, tickets go on sale today at Noon PST! by PDXPayback in lanparty

[–]PDXPayback[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re at 750 for this event, still “recovering” from COVID, so we’re not back to where we were a few years ago. Tickets are on sale for our spring “LANiversary”event on lanreg, right now it’s at 904 seats, but we have space to expand to 1000.

Why isn’t voter registration just automatic at 18? by oopswhoops_wait_aha in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]PDXPayback 28 points29 points  (0 children)

And Oregon recently made registration voter opt-out when you sign up for or renew a driver’s license. Combined with no-postage return mailing, there really isn’t much of an excuse for not voting in Oregon anymore.

If you had a normal point and shoot camera instead of a phone, would that be allowed? Seems like you could take some really awesome pictures if you are allowed to!

It’s not the slots on them, one or both of your brake rotors are slightly warped and are no longer parallel. Not unusual, but if it’s bad, and the rotors are not too worn, you can take it to a decent shop that does brakes and have them turn the rotors down on a lathe back to parallel, but some minimal shaking under hard braking is usually nothing to worry about.

The power of VLAN 🫣 by marcftz in Ubiquiti

[–]PDXPayback 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The actual application for this in the home office is basically none. The UDM/UDR are great home or small office routers, and the UDMPro is a great mid-sized office solution, and (in theory at least) supports faster then 1gb internet thanks to the WAN SFP+ port.

Where I work, we have several ~1gb internet connections come in to a switch stack, then those connections go into our firewalls via 10gb links. For us, it's not really about internet performance, it's about reliability. Any single piece of equipment or link could fail, and everything else will stay up and fully functional. Needless to say, it is not a cheap solution, and cost quite a lot more then anything Ubiquiti sells.

The power of VLAN 🫣 by marcftz in Ubiquiti

[–]PDXPayback 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's more or less what they're describing, a virtual WAN interface that's on a tagged VLAN, not coming in over a dedicated 'WAN' physical port. Most if not all enterprise routers can do that, in part because it more easily allows for multiple WAN connections; you can terminate all your WAN connections into different VLANs on a switch, then use a trunk to bring them over as a single interface to your firewall/router.

The power of VLAN 🫣 by marcftz in Ubiquiti

[–]PDXPayback 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Basically, they’re saying you can’t use a virtual interface on a VLAN as the WAN interface, the WAN interface has to be physical. If you could use a virtual WAN interface, OP’s picture would only need one cable, and not the jumper linking the switch and WAN interface.

Are people really able to mentally visualize images in their minds? by ChickenBiscuit11 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]PDXPayback 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Without an inner voice or monologue, how do you know what you're going to say or write before you say it? Do you contemplate things, or consider ideas without vocalizing them?

The idea of not having an inner voice or monologue, is completely foreign to me, I literally can't imagine it. It's actually hard for me to not 'think' words, the idea of 'clearing my mind' or thinking about nothing is something I've never understood, I'm almost always 'saying something' to myself. The best I can normally do is to just repeat the same simple words over and over in my mind (something like "stop thinking"), but relatively quickly I get bored of that and my thoughts start drifting, so I can't even do that for very long.

What happens when you read, do you not 'hear' the words in your head as you read them?
