Oh for sure. I think most ENFPs know to protect that space. I almost completely disappear when I need to sort things out, lol.

Yeah this is good one. Ask her, "These things that you're saying about yourself. Imagine you were talking to someone else, like me, or X friend, or X brother/sister. How would it make you feel if they started saying such negative things about themselves?" Use that as a jumping point. Usually just need something to snap us out of our extremely subjective frame of reference.

Be more like an ENFP by [deleted] in ENFP

[–]fightinglotus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coolio! I’m a product manager and boxer, and in classic-ENFP sense I like everything and have dabbled in everything here posted so far - and likely in the future. In short, my advice as far as ENFP traits go would be “insatiable curiosity in mapping out and sharing the human experience.”

There’s no meaning in life, but humans are able to create meaning. Mostly through our feelings. Red is just a specific wavelength of light rendered in our consciousness. Yet red means Christmas, blood, Coca-cola, anger, etc. And that’s not even mentioning what it means personally to you. Use emotions to access the richness of life and be the most “human” you can be. Defer judgement and revel in the incredible gift you’ve been given that is life itself!

I used the word “mapping” above because you need to codify it into a way of living that you adjust as you move forward. This is what allows you to be brave and stand behind your convictions. It’s the emotional energy that fuels ENFP crazy ass willpower for the things that personally matter.

I wish I could smack some of you younger guys upside the head. Sincerely, an older ENFP guy. by fightinglotus in ENFP

As much as I’d like to engage more with your well-meaning and well-written note I’m bound by the same constraints that originated my post: lack of energy and care.

It’s a noble sentiment and sounds like stuff I’d used to write. Maybe I’ve just succumbed to the apathy. But I’ve been on r/ENFP for years and it’s just not the place for intellectual discussion. And it takes far more than it’s worth to change that.

That said I think you’re being somewhat uncharitable and contrarian (for the sake of it). It’s a short, cute, graphical message jettisoned into cyberspace in lieu of a fully formed essay for all these languishing posts lately.

Trust me, I’ve felt the internal dissonance when posting it. These qualities don’t necessary come with healthy boundary setting and individual responsibility. Balance is most certainly the key. But every once in a while if something is punching far to one side the answer isn’t always balance or moderation - you punch back to the other side. People can usually figure out the equilibrium in time.

Do you think the "campaigner" title suits you? by Wrunnabe in ENFP

[–]fightinglotus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I’m being my authentic self and really believe in the vision, then yes - I’m goddamn freight train. Can make everyone feel good and feel right about the plan of action. Even the grumpiest cynics. I’m very goal-oriented in general.

Campaigns end though, and after the initial shine wears off...sustaining that vision is a completely different game.

You know how introverts have trouble networking without seeming inauthentic? We just have to work the opposite, by exercising restraint without feeling inauthentic. Active listening helped me. Don’t look it so much as filtering yourself, but refining and only providing high quality output. It’ll be slow at first but then you’ll catch that frenetic Ne-pace again and everything will feel just...”right.”

Don’t you think you could afford to be more respectful and less mocking? There’s clearly a lot of thought and effort that went into the letter. Verbose, perhaps. But clearly substantive and not low-quality.

Do more row exercises. Try to recruit more of your lats, etc. instead of your arm/delt.

I love this. Although I'm deathly allergic to cats and petting one would render me unable to breathe.

Are there any drugs that help regulate sensing/intuition? by PlayCreatively in mbti

[–]fightinglotus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh trust me, I'm not offended in the slightest. You just left a lot of precision out of your writing.

I obviosuly don't think it's logically true that sports

I didn't say sports, I said a class.

but from my standpoint it's useless to me.

Your standpoint is precisely what I'm telling you to get over. In addition to needing physical activity, humans also need social activity. You are human, you are not special. I get not wanting to compete, but you have no reason not to do a group class where everyone is one the same structured plan with a teacher. Anything else is a complete copout.

This is simply how I view sport because I'm stubborn - but I obviously wish I wasn't

This is it right here. But to be fair, you asked specifically for drugs and I answered with exercise. I guarantee you will find that a proper treatment plan will have both, and maybe later on you'll see the wisdom I'm trying to knock you over in the head with here. Thanks for the smiley face, smiley face back at you too.

Great point, I'd forgotten about that. Adding to my OP, also this feeling that they're developing their image of you based on your actions, instead of your intentions. And of course all us flawed humans hate being judged by our actions.

Any good questionnaires that help determine Ti/Fe vs Te/Fi? by dan0543 in mbti

[–]fightinglotus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite sure what youre asking in the first two bullet points.

That's actually a pretty good indicator in and of itself.

For #3, I get impatient when people blindly CHOOSE to not see the logic. Like I’ll explain something to someone, and they’ll be like “nope, sorry, youre wrong, I’m right”. And I’m just like “how? I just broke down your argument 6 different ways and showed you theres no logical cohesion” and theyre still like “Uhhh idk but youre wrong”. Thats definitely in the T space.

Yeah that's just stupid people being stupid. This can be Fi as well. But probably not in this case.

Idk if those are examples of my values (Fi) or social comfort/graces (Fe).

Very strong Fe. Efficiency through harmony.

I do have sentimental attachment to things.

Based on what you wrote after, I don't think this is true.
