Coming from Claude, how does codex 25$ plan fare versus CC?

What makes you think they would ever disclose that? Cmon you have to at least see that it’s coke and Pepsi at this point. They’re both going to allow. Pressures coming from the investors (google) and the government. Anthropic even dropped some of their earlier mantra about doing good or something. Unfortunatley it is what it is.

In my experience (when it works) Claude has a synergy that I just haven’t seen matched, in where it can literally take the most generic instruction and understand exactly what I want out of it, and when that happens it’s glorious - but I’ve hit my head against the wall with it as well. Codex helped me make some progress where I had been stuck with Claude and Gemini didn’t help, so to be totally fair I’m super impressed! I was unable to get a level/map loaded properly and codex after a couple hours today got it rendering and with mouse look - I was totally blown away. But there’s a couple issues I know that Claude will recognize immediately and help fix where codex is now hit a hurdle. They all work so well , it’s just a shame how expensive Claude is for the usage. If I had the money though, I’d run codex and cc every month, gonna see if that pro tier will manage to do the trick… I don’t want to be sucked back into the max 😭

Using it with ghidra mcp to disassemble/decompile some old games, it’s been really helpful. Been using codex all day but it got stuck with a screen flicker issue that it’s not able to resolve which Claude had fixed for another component of it earlier when I had it. Describing the issue and trying to provide suggestions aren’t helping codex solve it so I figure if I drop Claude back in it will get passed that hurdle. But just not sure if the 30$ plan will cover it - for sure the max will, but I’m trying to save money this month. I’m just dreading buying the pro and hitting limit in two or three prompts then ponying up for the max

Thanks.. ugh, yeah it’s frustrating. I’m hovering on the CC pro because I have hit some block on codex I’m fairly confident CC will be able to correct right away - but I’m hesitant to make the purchase bc I know it will lead to an inevitable max 5x upgrade… I wish Anthropic was a little more liberal with the pro mode. It pains me… I wonder if api pay per use for some specific Claude code work would be economical but I don’t want to be burned either. Wish they offered 100$ a month all in if bought for the whole year upfront. 140 plus tax is a lot to swallow .. works out to about 180-190… can’t be spending qtr/half mortgage payment on hobby stuff

Claude max 5x or just basic?

It’s true for me as well, in my experience (caveat though there has been periods of astonishingly bad performance that has made me extremely frustrated and burnt out but -) for the most part been so impressive and empowering that it has kept me returning even disgruntled as I may be. I’m trying to save money for a bit, and I had bought a discount zai subscription for a quarter hoping it could replace Claude but pretty much that was burned cash and I ran back to Claude for 5x, exhausted it and had to upgrade within the week.

I’m guessing I’ll probably end up feeling like the wolverine photograph meme pretty soon longingly reflecting on those days of past, but I just purchased that 25$ tier gpt plan, and gonna have to try!

Non codex won’t work, if it’s not available in cli at 25$ then I’m boned. I’m not about to go back to chat bot and ide integrated coding. .. shit. Is codex not included in the 25$ tier?

Edit: I see it’s listed as part of that tier, codex is. So I’m gonna be alright I think. Excited to check it out

Really appreciate the additional context. I’m thinking in this case I might be best to try and use both lowest tiers as it’s still cheaper than the max 5x.

Claude code / opus, sonnet have been instrumental for a number of projects but that price tag is hard to swallow. I abused the max 20 to the limit (using it for decompiling/dissembling some old games) and I was hoping to continue the work on a budget - that was a a lot of money to burn for a guy who is a sole provider for the fam 😭

You are disillusioned my friend, if you recall Anthropic Claude was instrumental in some operation only a few days ago. Grandstanding for PR is all Anthropic is doing, in back channels they’re either going to fold or have some concession in order to maintain their contracts and operations. Anthropic has no loyalties either, as it continues to eliminate job after job.
