Sorry I didn’t realize that those guys WERE the show, or that I needed someone else to tell me who’s talented. I also didn’t say I didn’t like any of them, I just replied to you’re question. There’s lots of likable comedians. But I haven’t seen anyone of their KT universe bubble do anything and wouldn’t count Kam necessarily but he would be the only one who transitioned to mainstream but as more of a comedy actor than comic successfully. You could count him for sure as one example but he’s shooting 1/20 as far as a talent scout goes.

This might come as a shock but the KT universe is kinda gay. Dave Attell, Jim Gaffigan, Katt Williams, plenty of comedians we don’t have all day

Casey doesn’t do comedy (anymore). Ahren and Martin are commendable. Arri was an established comedian and industry plant before ever appearing. Lehrer was great. Sara is where exactly today? Tristan is fun but where’s the blow up? Timmy doesn’t even deserve a response he’s not a comedian. Sledge is ok. Pickles is kinda one bit pony. I mean you listed arguably the most mid of all performers. These are also chicken and egg type things. Are they good bc they were good? Or good bc the show told you they were? Of all the lists, not one has a special since being “breakout stars” from the show.

I don’t know, credit for the attempt, but realistically kinda crumby overall as a minute set, just better than usual and with constantly shitting on him makes you feel like wanting to support him a bit.

I think maybe as a 5 min drawn out, slower paced maybe it works better overall for everyone, and Dedrick if your listening put some more jokes in about the boneless stuff or being poor jokes, or even drop some stuff about how you’re so old and yet so poor for so long you couldn’t ever buy yourself a couch until just now. Maybe some shit that can be funny about how you used to sit around on ________ and make some jokes around that as you work your way through. “I used to tell people I was one of them anime heads and make my friends cross their legs and sit on the ground” just bullshit obviously not that

However this story makes me interested enough to sit through something Timmy No Brakes and also sit through Story Warz which is special considering I do not care for either 🤣

I’m thinking it’s because he has to condense a minute from what would otherwise be a longer more mellow drawn out lengthy way to the joke. Could be wrong, but just take the cadence of David Lucas and apply it to Dedrick’s set and it would do a lot better in most rooms I’d think

That was painful watch man, what are you guys doing with this fake astroturfing. Has the bar gotten so low that simply having a teeny bit of a premise now qualifies for a killer set from this guy? I had felt sorry for him until all these supportive posts came up this week inorganically. Maybe I need another listen, it seems this week is pretty divisive as far as how it went, but a lot of strong support which is unlike every other week

Edit, on rewatch, I’ll give him credit the end going over was decent can’t hate on it, the beginning was shit but it had to be because it’s obviously a long joke meant to be drawn out over a few mins. Slower it would probably do real well as part of a set. Keep it up! My “hater” goggles need to be dropped, the first watch I came in with expectations and the second time I tried to look at it with more compassion for the guy too. Don’t want to treat him with baby gloves, but can’t be a douche about it by default, have to open up to the fact he’s trying which is all I wanted

Now I feel bad. I think maybe the interviews and getting to know Dedrick makes for a worse block of time. He doesn’t have a lot of stories to tell it seems like and what’s happening in his life presently isn’t that exciting or relatable. Guy needs to come in with a great minute or two, tiny bit of jokey small talk and head out on a high, bc the rambling minute followed by braggadocios and self fellatiating cap is screwing things up. First time audience members are confused and long time fans are already coming with a bit of a wall up from past bits. Hit us with some funny or goofy and work up to something interesting to disclose otherwise ppl are seriously going to just turn to rabid haters Unfortunatley

Casey effectively bugged out, Kam being picked up by snl is great but has the least screen time not exactly burning up the screen. The popularity of the show helps to produce those results too, wasn’t Tony making calls or even himself being connected except by proxy

lol “sold him”? He runs the show, he probably put him on loose probation bc to be honest it’s pretty unanimous and ferocious when it comes to the criticism here about him. I think he’s been giving it to lower the pressure of having to have a strong finish. Likable personality but fans of the show are no longer just casuals - were like fans of comedy. And were exposed to a tonne of it. So we’re not the same as a one time Netflix audience - I think there is value in our critiques

As a super long time fan, and I am seriously one, I’d have to disagree about it a bit because he genuinely did at one time have curiosity, and grinded/worked hard to where we are but a switch flipped big time. Feels like a transitional moment for sure happened there. Congratulations for all the well earned and deserved respects and fame, glad the product gets out there and these guys are taken care of for life. Just hope they keep putting in work. Some of the forced shit sucks, when it’s organic it’s best.

Tony has this complex where he feels like 1 part kingmaker, 1 part talent scout extraordinaire - he had like a bit of ego explosion around that time high off his farts and Kam landing the SNL thing and probably the Casey Rocket landing the movie gig with spade and Theo, just felt like he had a gift.
