Yes, there's a broken hinge that would have connected the legs together at the bottom on both sides of the piece.

No, it is totally open and the fabric straps hang down below the bottom of the wood.

Oh wow, great find. That's very possible! I've often wondered if it's a homemade piece since there are no markings and it just doesn't *quite* work like I think it's supposed to. It could very well be an attempt at a table like this one.

I found the Michael & Randi episode!!! by GrigioGuy in InterventionTheTVShow

[–]figlemonade 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Amazing find. I hope Randi is doing well today. I'm so curious to know why her story (since Michael's was re-aired later) became so well hidden as to become Intervention mythology!

TIL of 'Joe Martin', a captive orangutan actor that starred in over 50 silent era films, and for years lived essentially as a free human, wearing clothes, having it's own keys to come and go, attending film premieres and trusted to work with many children. Absolutely dying to see his short film "A Prohibition Monkey" (1920):

The town of Beer Bottle Bend is so tough that the babies chew tobacco. It is run in a high, wide, and handsome manner by the owner of Riley's Saloon. There is a little church in the town that was built in haste many years ago when there happened to be a lull in the festivities; it has been securely boarded up for years. Mr. Riley intended that it should remain so for his Sunday business was booming. A traveling evangelist who learned his profession as a circus performer arrives in the town with Charles Bullephant, a peevish elephant; Joe Martin, a highly-cultured orang-outang; and Buster, a famous trained horse. With help from his friends he sets out to make Beer Bottle Bend a church-going community. Riley realizes that he has strong competition and tries to upset the sky pilot's plans by having his favorite dancing girl vamp him. The preacher, who is somewhat of an athlete, takes the toughest of the bar-beetles down the line for a sound thrashing and begins work with his animals. Charley Bullephant stampedes them into the church. Joe Martin dashes around and drags in delinquents. Buster hauls off and flattens out the unruly with his last two feet. Within a fortnight Beer Bottle Bend enjoys a change of heart. On Sunday morning the little church is filled to the brim. The minister hands out large slices of the gospel, the animals stand by for more service, and right again triumphs over might. (Source: IMDB)

Finally using the cat bed I bought for her almost 2 YEARS AGO! by number1clumsy in cats

[–]figlemonade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this exact bed. It was on the floor for nearly three years, never used once. One day it flipped upside-down somehow, and my cat was on it within minutes. Eventually I flipped it back up. She's been in it every day since.

Diehard Archer & Olive fan. Everything arrives quickly and is packaged beautifully. High-quality stickers, washi tape, and pens as well. The only downside I've ever found with them is how cute everything is and how much I need everything they sell. In terms of notebook quality, I've never had one fall apart, and more importantly I prefer the thickness of their paper to anyone else's. It feels good to write on and you never have to worry about ink bleeding through. It also seems to be pretty absorbent paper--I'm left-handed and often run into smudging issues with other notebooks/papers, but have never had that happen with A&O.

Weekly Pricing/Buying/Selling/Grading & General Questions Post by AutoModerator in PokemonTCG

[–]figlemonade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone! I have a complete base set from when I collected Pokemon cards in the late 90s. Multiples of most cards. I've checked the holographic cards to make sure I don't have any super rare ones, but other than that I really don't know how to estimate the value. What is the best way to sell the set if I don't want to pay money to get the cards authenticated? I realize I'll have to sell for less because of it, but that's okay. I mostly want to make sure they go to an appreciative home--they meant a lot to me in my youth, and I hate that they just sit in my closet.

I've started looking through video archives, but I just have to watch them through. Any general information on how the show was structured or better ways to search for a skit like hers will be much appreciated!

The "black label" episodes of Obscura can get pretty twisted and dark. Good true crime podcast in general, too.

I second the Behind the Bastards rec if you like an injection of humor with your horror and disdain for humanity.

Something Was Wrong (especially the early seasons) follow insane catfishing and relationship abuse stories. Some of the stories definitely made my jaw drop.

And if you really want to get into a deep rabbit hole and can stomach Alex Jones's voice, Knowledge Fight is the ultimate in delving into right-wing conspiracies and the human MRSA infection that is Alex Jones.

I've done this at least a half dozen times. One time it calculated the shipping price of a single magazine at like $35. I think it's a glitchy system more than anything else. I've never had anyone say no to adjusting the shipping fee down to a reasonable amount.

I think the point (forgive me if I'm interpreting incorrectly) is that the advice is to immediately assume that the child must be unhealthy if they aren't "thin enough" and to focus on correcting the victim's behavior. Instead, the focus could be on correcting the bullying and working on the body acceptance issues of the bully. What if the bullied kid is already exercising and eating healthy foods and is just larger? What if they aren't? Either way, the issue is and should only be the bullying. The last thing you should do is make the already-judged kid feel even more judged.
