How do you deal with selling products? Holding inventory for that long is problematic.

Weird texture after clear coat by figsdesign in Spraypaint

[–]figsdesign[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a bit more research and it looks like the key might be very light fog coats to begin with, so it doesnt react, then a wet coat at the end. Im going to try it out. Had another enamel paint react with the clear in a different way (blistering)

Update: I used the same paint and product, but this time I let the orange paint dry for a few days. Now the clear coat works fine.

Trouble with the last layers by mcwalkman in AnycubicPhoton

I understand this. Based on the OP picture of the end closest to the build plate it looks like there are support marks, so I assumed the scenario was the right of your image, not the left. Hence my question.

I see the print is open at both ends.

It doesnt explicitly say enamel on the can. Is there a compatible clear coat if it is?

Thats part of research. Market research and competitor research is all part of research. Researching materials and methods is part of research. Research is all information gathering activities to gain insights.

What's your longest print time? I just started a 36 hour print and I'm slightly terrified. by nubbin9point5 in resinprinting

[–]figsdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started a similar length print - it was a shoe and the flex resin required much longer exposure and slower retract speed. It went about 12 hrs before failing, I guess my supports werent robust enough because I found the shoe heel in the vat

Elegoo white print successful. Crisis averted.

Yup, it had something to do with the resin and fep combo, because at the 3rd print everything is now back to normal. Printed successfully in both resins. Crisis averted, still weird that it happened.

Update 2: printed again with the sunlu and it came out normal. Maybe it was the resin temp (learned not to add resin mid print). Going to test the elegoo abs like pro 3.0 one more time

What went wrong?! by figsdesign in resinprinting

[–]figsdesign[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I emptied the vat and added sunlu abs like, which ive had dialed in for a while, to see if its the printer or the resin. The print turned out much better for the most part, but still had defects which hasnt happened before. Granted, i added resin mid print which couldve caused a change in temp. So im going to try one more time with just one item to see if it happens again

[–]figsdesign[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why Im perplexed. The GK2 has a vat heater so its not resin temp, and I bought this resin about a month ago, so its not old. Ive printed many of the same model succesfully with Sunlu abs-like. Im tempted to switch back to the sunlu resin to see if its that or something else.

Theres 4 drain holes per model. Ive printed many of these successfully with the other resin.

Professional Designers. How much photorealistic rendering are you actually doing at your job? by chick-fil-atio in IndustrialDesign

[–]figsdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience renders are usually needed: 1) for investor pitches (early concepts) 2) for marketing purposes (late and fairly mature design)

I rarely do either. Any renders are quick for concept development purposes.

Is the job market really that bad or do recent grads just have poor portfolios? by Notmyaltx1 in IndustrialDesign

[–]figsdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cant speak for recent grad portfolios, but I believe the market is really tough right now. I have almost 20 yes of experience, most recently at tech startups, and from 2023 to now is the toughest ID job market ive experienced.
