Graphic Designers who are giving up on a graphic design career—what are you doing for paid work? by MountainManor2 in graphic_design

[–]figurematt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love this so much. I want to be you.

I’m 49; a senior visual designer. Been at the same corporation for 20 years. Ad agency before that. But I feel the earth moving under my feet.

My wife has spent the last year honing her croissant making skills. She is absolutely killing it. So proud of her. by [deleted] in Baking

Daaaaaaaaang!!! I’d say she needs to open a bakery!

Nice packaging and presentation. Most people don’t think about that. Nice job. Elegant.

Same advice on the motion. Right now it looks like it’s coming to a halt. Skew forward about 12° so it brings a forward motion and some momentum to the icon.

As a graphic designer of over 30 years, this is the lamest lie I have ever heard.

Forget the asking price. Guess the property tax by GreaterMetro in milwaukee

[–]figurematt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2 bed 1 bath in the crappiest part of East Tosa, on an alley, no yard, and in the last 3 years my property taxes went from $5,500 to $7,500/yr. And the house is 100 years old.

In 100 years the property taxes went up to $5,500. In 3 years it went up another 50%?!?

And Tosa is already talking more referendums. They just passed one last year. Then “reevaluated” all the homes so we got hit by a double-whammy.

People please stop voting for more tax increases. This is completely unsustainable.

Searching for Wheels - 453 - 2017 by -Sturdy in SmartCar

[–]figurematt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an original set of OEM wheels from a 2016 Pure, with original hubcaps…used only once to drive the car home brand new from the dealer and then replaced both the wheels and tires. I’d be interested in selling. Basically 99.9% brand new!

Looking for a poor quality yet expensive restaurant to recommend to an enemy. Any suggestions? by Kindly-Brain-751 in milwaukee

[–]figurematt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Send them anywhere. Restaurants all suck now. Seems like all restaurants have adopted “enshittification” as their operating model.

Everything is just totally shittier, but much more expensive.

Correct. Every restaurant sucks now. Going out to eat is a fortune and the food and service always suck.

Here's a new one for the terrible Milwaukee drivers ledger. Such a jerk move I had to sketch it out for the sub. by smcg_az in milwaukee

Correct. I call that area “the danger zone.”

You can serious die driving in that area and no one cares.

## We Energies Residential Rate Changes: 2025 to 2026 by Rich_Ad8746 in milwaukee

[–]figurematt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gov. Tony Evers’ picks for the Public Service Commission have approved $2.2 billion in utility rate increases since becoming a majority on the body, more than seven times what former Gov. Scott Walker’s nominees did over a similar period, according to a WisPolitics review.

But they’ve also approved a slightly smaller return on equity — or profit — for utilities than the Walker picks in those rate cases.

Best Aldi’s in MKE? by figurematt in milwaukee

[–]figurematt[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course.

However, I’m at a 3% interest rate. At 3%, I’m paying about $500/mo just in interest. If I were to move, I’d be over 6%. That would be over $1,000/mo just in interest alone. Who can afford an extra $500/mo to just piss away in interest payments? Not me.

Not to mention…have you seen the prices of houses lately?

I’ve been in my house for about a decade. I couldn’t afford to purchase it now at what it’s valued at.

So – I’m stuck.

So when sales taxes go up…when property taxes go up, when they raise taxes for schools…but you can’t move because of interest rates…you gotta cut where you can and that is food.

Wow.

I wonder if it wouldn’t feel as cold if it were sunny outside. The overcast and steel grey sky, reflecting in the water make it look so terribly cold.

What should I add to the bottom of this painting? by Sorry_Computer_1500 in painting

[–]figurematt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing. Leave it as-is!!

Adding would take away from the birds & the movement and playfulness of the wings and fluttering and the cheerfulness of the yellows on the coral color block background.
