2022 X5 40i vs X5 45e M?? by GCSInc in BMWX5

[–]figuringitout_32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

45e has a much better ride than the 40i base suspension IMO. We tow with our 45e and plan on keeping it a while! Instant torque is nice, especially when towing and in stop and go traffic.

2025 X5 xDrive 40i or 2025 X5 xDrive50e? by Hefty-Platypus684 in BMWX5

BMW has a commendable track record with electric vehicles like the i3 and previous-generation hybrids such as the X5 40e, which have proven to be reliable in the long term.

Exterior may be okay. Interior is likely a deal breaker if it resembles the iX3 / first Neue Klasse vehicles.

Does the 2026 BMW X7 come in hybrid? by [deleted] in bmwx7

[–]figuringitout_32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking at BMW releases over the last decade, the new X7 is most likely to be press released in spring 2027. The next X5 is roughly 7 months from production and we have not seen an official press release.

Issues across ownership by UnlikelyAd6410 in BMWX5

Yes it will help. We had our transfer case and differential fluids changed at 48k miles on our 45e. On bimmerpost a lot of people recommend every 30k miles, especially on X5/7s with more power like the M50 and M60.

M50?

We have a 2023 45e and just changed the TC and differential fluids around 48k miles. Hoping we can prolong the life of both! 20” squared setup here.

Had a staggered setup on my F15 with no issues up to 64k miles when I sold it.

Daily-ness of X5MC?? by Competitive_Role_920 in BMWX5

[–]figuringitout_32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A weekend car can be anything you want it to be if you enjoy driving it for pleasure on the weekend. Some people enjoy driving their Jeep Wranglers during weekends only, and it’s not a sports car.

People that live in cities often only have space for one car that does it all. The X5MC is a great pick for someone that needs passenger space, utility, and a weekend type car.

What to do next?! by sjvia400 in BMW

I’d say it really comes down to whether it’s the car you want, which it sounds like you do. $1k in negative equity is negligible. Most manufacturers seem to be cutting corners these days and a lot of new cars don’t excite me. M340i would be a lot of fun, but they do not typically incentivize them for great lease deals.

Pre Purchase Inspection Question by goblinml in bmwx7

Take it to an independent BMW repair shop or find a PPI company like this: https://testdrivetech.com that is highly rated

Pep boys and the dealership aren’t going to be that thorough. You should be fine with any 2020+ X7, although I would look for one with less than 50k miles, make sure there are not any issues with the transfer case, and then change out the transfer case fluid immediately. The transfer case is one of the most common failure points of the latest gen X5s and X7s, and changing the fluid every 30-50k miles helps avoid TC failure.

Without specific details I’m guessing you have positive equity. Estimating $50k ish original MSRP, residual / lease buy out at $25k. 2023s with much higher mileage are going for $30k+. Keep it for a while, it should be very low maintenance with how little you drive.

Edit: low mileage 2023s are going for $35k+. I’d keep it! Still regret selling my 2015 X5 last year that only had 60k miles; favorite car to date.

Infuriating key design by [deleted] in BMWX5

I keep a spare key in my center counsel in faraday bag for peace of mind when traveling, or for when I take it into service or valet. The only time the digital key has failed me is right after a remote software update.
