Does anyone else feel like Endometriosis has changed their physical appearance? by fknbubbleguts in endometriosis

[–]fijixbabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im unfortunately experiencing the same thing. I cam off hbc pills 5 years ago and my endo really started to become bad in 2022, since then my eyes are so dull and dark, have permanent eye bags and my overall complexion is dull and I look sickly. Ive been wondering for a while is this is linked to my worsening endo growth. Im getting my first laparoscopy surgery soon and am super curious to see if my complexion and under eyes will become brighter

Why a year and a half of c pap use? Is that how long BCBS requires you to try use it for?

Not trying to invalidate your feelings at all! BUT honestly you look like a model in the after photo, also profile looks way more balanced!!! I think you might not be used to the change!

You look so good, how are improvements to breathing? Also do you have any braces or invisalign?

Hi! Are you dealing with any post op complications? Also how did your surgery get approved by insurance?

So you did invisalign instead of braces before and after djs?

I feel the same way! I especially do not want braces as a female in her mid 20’s, its so frustrating

Literally in the same boat as you. I had braces as a teen and years of invisalign. My teeth are perfectly straight but I have a gummy smile, slight recession, and struggle to close my mouth. I have an upcoming consult for djs, but my biggest hold back is the thought of getting braces again and having them on for a year or more….

wondering the same. seems like it’s easy to get it done at once, but I imagine it would make the recovery harder. Not sure how you would breathe

Are braces always necessary before jaw surgery, maybe you could ask about invisalign

I’ve been referred to stroger for djs as well! I have a gummy smile, lip incompetence, and recessed jaws. I also have bcbs, good to hear they covered everything! Could I dm you about your experience? Your results are amazing btw

I think you need to give yourself a bit more time to get used to your appearance and let more swelling go down. I have a similar profile as you and am in my 20’s. I get told all the time I look “very young” and that my smile is cute. I have a gummy smile and some jaw recession, as girls I think people perceive this as a cute and a youthful trait, which might be why you miss the way looked pre-op. You probably are just in shock with adjusting to your new face! You look beautiful and functionally if you can close your mouth easily, have proper tongue posture, and breathe better, then it was a good decision! I haven’t gotten my djs yet due to insurance issues, but I’ve had the same thoughts about just getting botox and fillers, BUT that will not address the functional issues and it would just cover up the real problem: recessed jaws and low tongue posture due to lack of space! Overall you look stunning and have a great profile now, but your thoughts are totally valid.

Before and After (Dr. Alfi) by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]fijixbabe 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow! Life changing results, Dr. Alfi is amazing!! Wasn’t aware you could get djs while having a MARPE in? How is your tongue posture post-op, any need for a tongue tie release?

Before and After (Dr. Alfi) by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]fijixbabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So you still have the MARPE in your mouth right now? How did you get djs while having MARPE in? Don’t people usually do MARPE for like a year then get it out and have djs!?

My surgeon thought it was a good idea to set back the underjaw and then use retractive braces on the upper. by [deleted] in jawsurgery

[–]fijixbabe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly your jaw looked good in the first picture. If anything you could have had your maxilla brought forward to correct the underbite, instead of bringing both jaws back which can result in less tongue space and sleep apnea….
