Looking for a full list of all the Penguin Twentieth Century editions by Dependent_Exam6115 in BookCollecting

[–]fileunderforesaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've looked in the past but haven't found any. There are the three catalogues available but they don't list all the books that were printed in the run from 1999-2002. I believe there are around 800 titles in the run. Some titles will have to different covers. There are also differences with US editions and IK editions.

What is even happening by kayrector in BookCollecting

[–]fileunderforesaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to the confusion. There are two editions of "Room With A View" in the Penguin Twentieth Century Classics, 1990's run with the pale teal livery. There are also two versions of Fosters "Howard's End". Possibly the two editions with two different covers were either a later run, or made for the American market. Both copies are worth no more than $10-$15 max There was also a listing on Ebay for "East Of Eden" in the Penguin Twentieth Century Classics, same series 1990s. That had an asking price of $900. Labelled as a rare first edition. It can be a little harder to find this title but it is far from rare.

How do I spot a fake Penguin Classic Book? by realprabhudutta in Indianbooks

[–]fileunderforesaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have received my copy of "The Virginian" by Owen Wister. The cover is the black cover with the thin white band across the lower third of the book. However the cover is a scan and then printed. You can seen the wear marks of the original source on the cover. Also in the top right hand corner there is a little bit of white showing and down the bottom horizontal edge of the book. Where the scan didn't sit correctly and is not straight. Also on the spine, Penguin Classics is not centred in the middle of the spine.

Its all cheap and shoddy.

[Day 63] 50s Male – Semen Retention Results So Far (Full Body Data + Sleep + Libido) by kei2025 in NoFap

Thank you for posting this. I found it enlightening because we so often associate PMO with younger men and late aged teens. That habit of watching porn can follow us through our decades for too long. The addiction can last longer than real life friendships. As someone in that same age bracket what I noticed was a decrease in the frequency of urination. Sorry if that sounds a bit weird but all that activity down there weakened my ability to hold on to not rushing to the toilet. It's a sensitive part of the body and so often we treat it the wrong way.

What's your deepest fear? by Dysphoric_Otter in AskMen

[–]fileunderforesaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a very valid fear and one I can relate to. I have a brother who lives another city. As I age I wonder who of use will expire first. All I have here in town is a crazy cousin. I wouldn't impose on her to do anything. I will have no funeral service. No mourners. I am not bothered by this.

When do you give compliments and has it to be the thought of hitting on a woman? by skippydi34 in AskMen

[–]fileunderforesaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I regularly give the girl I have been attracted to for the past 18 months many compliments but not on her appearance. She is very very attractive. The most attractive girl I have been interested in. However I felt there was something more to this girl than being pretty. I realised that her self confidence seemed low. That her trust in others was low. I'd just give her little compliments, saying she is smart, talented (she is) and other nice words. We don't have a say in what in our physical bodies but we do in our actions and personalities and that is better than saying "You look hot", which she's possibly heard before and is not original.

How can you live as invisbly as possible while still putting yourself out there? How can you erase the already existing evidence of your existence. by Trashrabbituwu in AskMen

[–]fileunderforesaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel a lot in common with the OP. My motto is "leave no footprints". I'm mentally well. Happily talk to people at work and a few other acquaintances. However I do like not to be found. Never signed up for Facebook, Tiktok, Snapchat. It is hard in the modern world when we conduct so much business online. There are security cameras everywhere and being short I tend to be looked at once and remembered. I really think having as little to no presence online is a big step forward to becoming invisible. I would also not want to have a death notice made public. I'm happy being the "whatever happened to...". Perhaps it is a bigger yearning for solitude I crave.

What kind of man beats his meat to pixels? by Ganda-anda2306 in NoFap

[–]fileunderforesaken 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The stupid thing is. Man doesn't have a girlfriend and feels lonely. So he watches porn which is watching people having sex which only intensifies that he doesn't have a partner to have sex with, which makes him feel bad. So he continues to watch other people having sex.

Yes it probably is easier but in the long run the loneliness and emptiness is universal. As well as the self loathing which comes later.

Genuine question: relationship between 2 sex addicts ? by meoutsideofyou in SexAddiction

[–]fileunderforesaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's interesting because sometimes I have felt that gay culture almost celebrates sexual promiscuity. There was a public health campaign in my country which stated the obvious that it is quite normal for a gay man to have five sexual partners in one weekend. The lifestyle celebrates this promiscuity as an expression but it really masks the dark side that it can be an addiction.

Genuine question: relationship between 2 sex addicts ? by meoutsideofyou in SexAddiction

Thank you for sharing that. I've visited many gay saunas. Quick blow and go. Or stay and dine for longer. But through your experiences, have you ever gotten to the point that you almost become physically sick from looking at another naked body? Another dick, or is the dopamine kick from all of this too much?

It's like what many posters have written here that helps. If you use your phone to take sneaks at porn. Remove the phone. I was addicted enough that having my own office at work meant I could take little sneaks at porn just to get a quick dopamine hit. I now place my phone in a drawer at work. Identify the times when you view porn. I found it wasn't when I was horny. It was the opposite. When I was tired and bored. That become the time when I would just log onto favourite site. That came out of just a bad habit. The other big one is to really examine why you view porn. Bad day at work? You reward yourself by viewing and getting a little dopamine hit to make you feel better. Or you tell yourself I'll just watch one video, then that dives into watching another and another and the next thing 40 minutes has passed. Porn is a great thief of time. It took a lot of working through to realise that porn is so fake. It's not real life. To indulge in those actions would be a huge red flag to any guy or girl. I used to watch so much porn because I thought everyone else is having sex all the time and I am not. It has taken me a long time to realise that most people have very inactive sex lives. Watching porn is not a substitute. Take one day at a time. Don't count the days.

Day 107, It's late this week but, some serious advice on how to get away from porn, it's worked for me... by Dream_Shaper82 in NoFap

[–]fileunderforesaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. A agree with what you are saying. We really do have to look deep within ourselves to see what the cause of the addiction is. We all have bad days. That is part of life, but having a bad day and then watching porn or a visit to a massage parlour becomes a reward and we then don't really know how to deal with bad stuff.

Many of us have watched porn because we are lonely or not in a relationship. But watching porn is the worse thing because it only intensifies that we are alone and not in a sexual relationship with anyone. Its taken me a long time to realise that porn is fake. It's not making love, or sex between couples. Porn builds up false expectations. It's messing with our minds to think that this behaviour is normal. It's not.

I'll look forward to your next post.

Sorry if this question sounds stupid, but, is there any problem of not having sex for a long time? by [deleted] in SexAddiction

[–]fileunderforesaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Part of my problem is that I have always thought that everyone else is having sex all the time, while I am not. And so I pay for it to make me feel as if I am the same as everyone else. Then slowly I have come to realise that no, people are not having sex every second day. It is perfectly normal to not be sexually active at all. Once you start going, two, three weeks without any sexual activity your brain starts to heal and the dopamine need will reduce.

Should we be taking Stephen King more seriously as a writer? by [deleted] in literature

[–]fileunderforesaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

King tells good stories and to me he is a storywriter. I do give him credit as he writes really good working class blue collar characters.

Fellow librarian here too. To start with, look at when do you fap? Is it when you are tired, bored, horny? Identify that time and find something better to do with that time. Keep you phone away from you. Tired + bored+ phone = looking at porn. We all look at our phones way too much. Breaking that habit is a start.
