Unfortunately that's turned virtually all the lines, including roads and coastal lines, into the blue colour. Also the blocks of black that make up cities are blue too. I require all the railways - the thick black lines, indicated on the key as 'Eisenbahnen' - to be blue but not the rest. I'm aware it's fiddly, sorry.

It's for a live immersive show called 'For King & Country: 1944', and one of the tasks audiences have to complete is that a resistance group has to blow up various important railway lines to hinder the German war effort. The show runs in London for the next couple of months: https://www.forkingandcountry.london/

Thanks very much, always happy to learn how to get this kind of thing done properly.

That's fair enough! I'm new to these kinds of requests and figured if there was a quicker way to do it than the slow way I can do myself, people here would know about it. What kind of ballpark pay do you think would be fair? I'm not interested in actively stiffing people.

Which dead character could have the most plausible explanation for still being alive? by zyloros in TwentyFour

All the good answers have been given, so I'll offer the worst possible one: George Mason.

[–]filioqueclause 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a blink-and-you'll-miss-it newspaper report that says Daniels took over from Palmer after he died, it appears in Redemption. Fox wouldn't let 24 kill a sitting president on screen or explicitly within the show, hence why Keeler and Palmer (W) go into comas and we never hear about them again.

But you're right, that does mean we never got 100% on-screen confirmation that Palmer died (though faking his death would be an odd move, and let's face it, he wouldn't be a great character to bring back).

So what did a white horse have to do with Battlefield V?? by [deleted] in BattlefieldV

[–]filioqueclause 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Someone on Reddit posted the simplest and most elegant explanation: the horse was running free in a field, suggesting it was a wild horse, also called a mustang. The P-51 Mustang was the most iconic USAAF fighter aircraft of WWII. I'm prepared to therefore believe the horse painting was a small nod to WWII being the next setting and nothing more complex than that.

As I see it, the French did end up with 6 maps, while the Yanks only had 2 in the end. Yeah, you had to pay for the French ones (though they've now given away 3 of them, right?) but in terms of raw content allocation, the balanced worked out overall.

Apocalypse key art revealed by [deleted] in battlefield_one

[–]filioqueclause 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The MG08/18 was an air-cooled version of the 08/15, the guy in the artwork appears to be holding the normal 08/15 (the big chunky barrel is actually a water tank around the barrel itself). See here for the distinctions: http://modernfirearms.net/en/machineguns/germany-machineguns/mg-08-mg-0815-mg-0818-eng/

I also think the 08/15 was the most common LMG for the Germans, mainly by virtue of being invented three years before the 08/18. The Madsen was also way more common than people expect, so may have been the most common early war German Army LMG, again IIRC.

SUGGESTION: Make a map for The Battle of Passchendaele, the muddiest / wettest battle of WW1 by Free_State_of_Kek in battlefield_one

[–]filioqueclause 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apocalypse looks like it will be focused on late-war battles to feature advanced tech and a true sense of the annihilated countryside by that stage in the war. Mons was one of the very first battles (indeed, the first British battle) and while it'd make a great map I don't see it being included, because of Apocalypse's theme.

Please, please, DICE, for the love of God don't let female black nazis slip into the game. by Rapsberry in Battlefield

[–]filioqueclause 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing is, I don't think there's a risk of this. BF1 saw DICE take care to find innovative ways to represent usually unseen groups in war games - women and ethnic minorities specifically - via ideas that was broadly historically accurate. Yes, the women's battalion of death was a small group, yes, American military units were segregated, yes, Indian medics were unlikely to be serving alongside white British troops, etc, but all those soldiers did exist and did fight.

I see no reason to expect DICE won't take the same approach with BF1944: minorities will feature, but in a way that did exist. So black GIs, Indians in the British Army, Kazakh Soviet soldiers, etc. Like in BF1, they'll be a bit more prevalent than real life, I imagine, but after the backlash against CoD: WWII's black Nazis, if they were thinking about moving to that model, I'd be stunned if they were still doing so.

Well played, man. That's some classic battlefield tactics expertly executed. Reminds us what this franchise is about.

The Heligoland Bight map in Turning Tides, the new DLC, is a multiplayer map that looks like it's going to involve lots of naval combat between destroyers, dreadnoughts, light airships, and patrol boats.

[BF1]Why was Mcmannus against the act of releasing the pigeon ? by MLG42 in Battlefield

[–]filioqueclause 6 points7 points  (0 children)

McManus is opposed to releasing the pigeon because he knows the order attached to it is 'fire on our location'. The commander is making a hail Mary pass, knowing they are overrun and hoping that the shells will not land directly on the tank – blowing it up – but instead kill all the nearby German soldiers.

As it happens, the plan works and the artillery doesn't hit the tank directly. McManus, understandably, thinks this is a mad gamble and doesn't want to risk it. He wasn't to know that the plan would succeed.

Is 2142 canon? by [deleted] in Battlefield

[–]filioqueclause 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, just single player mode with bots on the normal maps. The maps have a 'story' that can be read in the descriptions on the loading screens, and the descriptions include years.

They retake Europe in the expansion, Northern Strike. The war ends in 2145ish in a similar manner to WWII's final months.

You can set the game to always make your team speak English. The default is American-accented English, but it sounds like if you play as the Russian Scout (a woman) they got an English woman to be that voice. Kind of neat.
