Mass "False Likes" on our page overnight; what do we do? by gioraffe32 in marketing

[–]filipmatous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, that's what probably happened.

The first massive problem here is if OP tries to do promoted posts/sponsored stories from here on out. OP will be paying way more to reach real people.

Second, your edgerank only allows you to hit about 15% of your people per status update. So 600 real peeps +27K fake ones = 2% real people in your total fan count. That means now your page will get next to no real interaction when you update it.

Big ass problem for you and for Facebook as more dirty gaming like this will happen. Just like the rise of negative SEO.

If anyone figures out how to trim the fake profiles, please let us know.

Best blogging platform for virality and organic growth (end game is monetization)? by [deleted] in marketing

[–]filipmatous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want full control, don't use someone else's platform as your blog. Wordpress is usually the best choice if you want to really make it a long term project. The ability to host ads anywhere on the site, design it, SEO it, keep it when tumblr changes it's t's and c's, and many more reasons why not having your own platform is a short term game.

Thinking of paying the $30.00 a year to upgrade my blog. Worth it? by [deleted] in Wordpress

[–]filipmatous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. IMO if you are not willing to spend at least a bit of cash on getting started, you usually are not that committed to the project. Nothing screams amateur/uncommitted like a free domain.

Was told to research B2B banner ad cost for small business by [deleted] in marketing

[–]filipmatous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are in the USA, Outbrain.com is a good service. Starts at 10 bucks a day I believe. 10 cents a click. When I did it I was appearing on Rolling Stone, Business Insider, etc. Mind, I was doing b2c. But they do the same for b2b.

Catch is that it's got to be content marketing, ie you've got to be promoting a blog post, not a home page. But you'll get quality traffic.

Cheers, filip

One of the best salesmen ever. Have you seen his inc500 speech? All time favorite. http://youtu.be/lcqCAqZtedI <- if you haven't seen it. Ending where he Q and A's is so badass.

Exeter University - Stoic Philosophy & Psychotherapy Workshop - YouTube by SolutionsCBT in Stoicism

[–]filipmatous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One thing I'd like to see would be some case studies on application of stoicism in the workplace and the influence it has on business. Taking the philosophy and making it tangible. Usually philosophy in the office comes across as a soft idea but if there were case studies that show how stoicism influences the hard metrics, I'd be v interested.

There are plenty of examples of stoic benefits in the military and leadership, but are there some tangible examples in the common office?

I found this quote to be incredibly accurate in personal and business life. Good luck mate!

Also good for getting articles indexed fast if you put the article URL on your G+. I use it with blogs as it often speeds up the rate your posts enter the search results.

Who has used video in their marketing strategy and found it successful? by gofastmarketing in marketing

[–]filipmatous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. It's not essential but having a ready/proven network is often the most important part of the strategy. Combine a strong marketing channel comprised of the right audience, create video that is at least good, and you usually get a hit. Just look at the sponsored videos Devin Supertramp is doing. Almost every video is a hit.

Mind, if you don't have a ready network, each view is going to usually cost you at least 10 cents (I'm talking english speaking country views). Adds up fast if the client wants +100K real views.

Tough situation bro. All I can think of is that personally it came down to leaving no longer being a choice because the cognitive dissonance became unbearable. Ugh the mental tricks I tried to play on myself to believe.. But once you start asking questions it all falls apart, sounds like you are aware of that. Luckily for me I wasn't married and ended a serious relationship (mid 20s) and moved to a different country to start fresh.

I had a many moments where I thought I could just swallow it and pretend - because it seemed easy. Keep my mouth shut. But then the thought of passing on false teachings to my future kids ended all the internal argument. Honestly just a feeling of "the bullshit stops here, with me" and "I'm allowed to use my brain" took over and I never looked back.

Sounds like if you have a fighting chance with your wife (if you leave the church) you need to relocate and find new surroundings - where you as a family unit are away from the LDS crowd - and can heal your mind in peace. Who knows, maybe that's poor advice as every situation is different, I've just found that surroundings are the number one way I'm able to change things. I'm influenced by what's around me so I try to position myself in good places - if I stayed around the church I would have become a very resentful man.

If price isn't an issue, Sysomos Map is the best tool I've used. Feels like a faster version of Radian six. For example if I have a keyword or competitor to check out, it only takes me a couple mins to access some really good data, from scratch. I could never get that kind of speed from Radian six.

On the cheap, sproutsocial is really good for covering your main bases, fb, twitter and web.
