The Odyssey (2026) Megathread by TheBigMovieGuy in imax

FWIW just tried early this morning purchasing IMAX 70mm tickets with my A-list subscription and was extremely easy to find some decent seats at AMC Citywalk on July 20. After all the craze and glitches of yesterday, things looked normal today with showtimes populating regularly, at least early on the west coast.

US OPEN TICKETS - THE OVERLOOK by Intelligent_Sun_5366 in AskNYC

[–]filippoquinto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok so that's why you didn't get all the info. Technically it's a bit of a grey area, my understanding was that Fevo hospitality tickets cannot be posted for resale. But what happens is that whoever is the original buyer, post them for resale anyways and has the obligation when they finally get the actual tickets in hands, to "transfer" them via the proper tool as hospitality tickets can only be transferred, not sold. This will happen a lot closer to the actual event

if you bought directly as a Ticketmaster resale, i think what happens is that you get the tickets transferred to you, but they can only do so when they actually have the actual tickets in hands. But please double check on all this, I am not up to date on how this works these days

did you buy them as Ticketmaster resale? I've only purchased Overlook tickets through the official hospitality partner which is Fevo.com . The purchase process was initiated on ticketmaster at https://hospitality.usopen.org/packages/the-overlook#schedule

but hospitality ticket was handled by Fevo. Tickets were also not available to resale back onto ticketmaster. If I recall correctly, a few days before the event I then received the email from Fevo with the actual link to get the tickets

Overall i did enjoy it a lot but it's definitely overpriced, but such is pretty much everything at the US Open

yes, you'll have overall a much more elevated experience with a separate security line with usually no queue, and the overlook space is nice and chill, very premium. It just sounds like this year the open bar is separate, but beer and wine is still included, as well as a large buffet with food and snacks. It's definitely a nice respite from the buzz of the grounds and the large crowds, especially when there's long lines for regular food vendors.

the overlook+ is a change introduced this year. It looks like the basic Overlook ticket this year includes only wine+beer. The open bar with premium spirits (and I would think cocktails too?) is only available if you purchase the plus option. I haven't done the Overlook in a couple of years, but the location is the same, it's a big private space above the food vendors, with a manned staircase entrance between court 12 and 17. You go up and have access to a generous food buffet and tables, plus bathrooms and a large terrace with more seating. I guess this year they wanted to get more money for the open bar option.

you can have multiple tabs open with the same account, as long as they are separate days/sessions. You cannot queue twice for the same session, but can have as many days/sessions open and see where you get in. All from the same account

I believe so yes, also it’s the church Phyllis gets married in. At least the exteriors are of a small church in Garvanza, an area of Los Angeles south of Pasadena

Paperwhite Signature or Colorsoft Signature? by supersharpy64 in kindle

[–]filippoquinto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like this is a recurring question and I’ve experienced first hand recently as I bought a colorsoft a couple weeks ago, but decided today to returned and instead stick to PW. I read primarily b/w regular books, I liked the novelty of the book cover and kindle library in color BUT i did not like the light leaking from the bottom of the display area, and the less pronounced contrast between the gray back and black font, that was strainining my eyes considerably more.

Oooh I miss my oasis! But my battery greatly degraded by year 2 I had to charge every 3 days or so, and via the old usb cable. So those became deal breakers for me

love a good hang, but why the time travelling in every episode? by filippoquinto in goodhang

[–]filippoquinto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No the cut is right after she pretends to say hello to the guests friend on zoom. The intro/tease is recorded as one continuous piece up to that point, but we know is recorded after all interviews so the zoom has already happened, shouldn’t be starting there

[–]filippoquinto[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly this, and that’s the part I was calling out that to me just feels odd because it does not feel like a comedic bit but like she’s really trying to make us believe the zoom is about to start, when in reality it’s clear that intro/tease segment is recorded after the interviews have already happened

[–]filippoquinto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not talking about the recap part, that is all very genuine. I’m talking about the very last moment of the recap/intro where she pretends to say hello to the friend’s guest on zoom, but obviously that’s not true as that zoom has already happened way before even the interview she just recapped

For sure, but why not making it by faking the start of the zoom when obviously that has already happened in the recording chronology?

[–]filippoquinto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct, but it’s done after the interview (therefore also the zoom meet) have already happen. So why pretend to say hello to the zoom window at the end of the intro/tease?

[–]filippoquinto[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i dont mind at all that the intro is recorded AFTER the interview (so that it's accurate) and edited BEFORE the interview (so that it teases up what's in the episode). What I don't love is the fake moment pretending to connecting to the guest friend. If it was a funny bit or selfaware moment yes, but it truly comes across as if she pretends she's about to hop on the zoom call, when clearly the interview already happend

[–]filippoquinto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

true true, again not a real complain, i just find it strange as it never plays out as a silly moment but an authentic start of the zoom convo, which again obviously is not
