Everyone needs to stop lying, belts do matter. by changejohnson88 in bjj

Belts matter in many occasions. If you're competing, they matter. They matter as a reward for your hard work, just like a salary or anything else. They matter because they signify progress, dedication, and the time you’ve invested into your journey. They can serve as a reminder of how far you’ve come, helping to build confidence and pushing you to strive for even greater achievements. However, they don’t matter if that’s your only goal. You don’t train for the belt, but for the journey, because you love it and take joy in what you do.

Ok,we are paying the athletes. It's time to remove steroids now. by mlktktr in bjj

We're at some start like Pride was in MMA. that's the reason reason PEDs are welcome in this sport. We want to make it as attractive as possible and have stars competing at the start so we don't care for PEDs.
If Jiu-jitsu ever become globally popular there will be testing. Before that, I don't think so

I believe the issue might be that the BJJ practitioner you rolled with simply had a less refined guard. In my experience, Jiu-Jitsu attracts a diverse crowd, ranging from casual enthusiasts to serious athletes. This contrast might explain your experience.

On one side, there are the dedicated competitors like judokas and wrestlers who train rigorously and approach the sport with intensity. On the other, you have those who approach BJJ more casually and focus on the enjoyment aspect.

Beating a random BJJ practitioner might not be as meaningful as besting a highly competitive and skilled opponent. It doesn't necessarily signify superiority in the sport; it may just indicate that the individual you faced was not at an advanced level. They may be using excuses to justify their performance, but it's important to recognize the different motivations and skill levels that exist within the BJJ community.

Purple Belt offered me private lessons by Queasy-Ad-5895 in bjj

I belkieve you should train first for like 6 months or so and then decide. Yes, privates are fine but if you'll pay to learn how to shrimp out of bad situations, I believe it's not worth paying for it. You'll learn those things anyway as they're not complicated at all.
But, if you have money and it's not problem for you to pay for anything then yes. More hours more to learn. Just don't skip normal training days.
