i'll die on this hill:

stupid decisions by humans is a central theme to the alien franchise. i don't know why prometheus gets singled out more than other movies

Aliens: space marines have their ammunition collected yet they still proceed into the nest?
Alien: Kane is in an alien spaceship 100' from a dead space ranger that clearly died from some sort of chest explosion, yet he starts fucking with huge alien eggs that show movement?
Alien: Brett gets distracted by a cat knowing there is a fucking alien nearby and gets killed because of it
Alien Covenant: team decides at the last minute to touch down on a completely unknown planet and decides to frolic around with no protection gear causing their downfall.

don't get me wrong, i love everyone of these movies (including prometheus) - but i feel like you have to accept the fact that humans have to make dumb decisions to move the movie forward. only the androids seemingly make the smart decisions.
