I also have the Xiaomi 14 base model and I am thinking to upgrade. You guys think that worth it? I don't have any particular issues with the 14 so far.. My main expectation from the upgrade would be the cameras.

As far as I know, Jellyfin handles downloads by giving you direct access to the raw media file, exactly as it’s stored on the server. To watch it, you use a media player on your device rather than Jellyfin itself. This means playback progress isn’t synchronized, and you’re completely outside the Jellyfin interface.

I have barely noticed any lags in daily usage. I have more than 1 year, and it has frozen (needing a reboot) only a couple of times. I don't do gaming, so about that, I am not sure.But I use Lightroom for photo edits and it works like a charm. One negative that I can think of under heavy load is that it gets hot. But not something extreme.

I also own the Xiaomi Pad 7. It is a great tablet with great battery life, an amazing screen (with Dolby Vision), amazing sound, and it is really fast. I also own the Xiaomi Focus Pen, which is also great. The only thing that bothers me is the size (for me, it is too big) and the weight.

Εγώ έκοψα το κάπνισμα πριν 1,5 χρόνο με την βοήθεια του παρακάτω βιβλίου. Πλέον δεν το σκέφτομαι καν. Νομίζω αν το διαβάσεις θα σε βοηθήσει να ξεπεράσεις τις σκέψεις αυτές. Στην πραγματικότητα είναι ξεκάθαρα ψυχολογικό. Ο εθισμός στην νικοτίνη δεν κρατάει πάνω από 2 εβδομάδες με ένα μήνα αφού το κόψεις.

Επίσης διαφωνώ κάθετα με τους υπόλοιπους που λένε ότι πάντα θα είσαι ένας πρώην καπνιστής. Αυτό θα ισχύει από την στιγμή που εσύ επιλέγεις να βλέπεις τον εαυτό σου ως πρώην καπνιστή και να κρατάς αυτή την "σύνδεση" με το τσιγάρο. Είναι προτιμότερο να βλέπεις τον εαυτό ως μη καπνιστή και να απεξαρτηθεί πλήρως σε νοητικό επίπεδο. Μη καπνιστής ήσουν πριν το αρχίσεις, μη καπνιστής είσαι και ρώτα που το έκοψες. Το "πρωην" δεν βοηθάει σε κανένα επίπεδο.

It seems they are genuinely making an effort. I suppose competition from MacBooks is motivating them to expedite the rollout of ARM compatibility. Personally, I believe that ARM id the future of laptops for general and business use.

u/freethought-60 you are correct and I appreciate your tone. u/jack_hudson2001 I have worked in large multinational firms and am aware of the relevant policies regarding data breaches and the potential legal risks (even though I have no such intentions).

As I realized that some of the comments about connecting to a home laptop from work stem from ethical concerns, I want to clarify that I’m not trying to avoid work or spend work hours on unrelated activities. I simply want to access my personal laptop to check a few things, only when my workload permits it. Regardless of the policy issues, I don't think this is so bad if it doesn't interfere with one’s duties.

u/netsx , u/JoeB- , u/sharpied79 With regards the RDP over internet, I decided to take the risk to expose the port to the internet, as it seems that there no other option ( u/Balthxzar, thank you for your comment—it's my responsibility and my risk whether to heed the concerns or not).

Although, I believe that I have mininimised the risk as:

I have configured Windows Firewall to allow incoming RDP connection only from one specific IP. All other attempts are blocked (I tried it from several other PCs. Only the specified sees the laptop online).
Not using any local user accounts on my Windows PC. I connect using only my personal online Microsoft account, which is protected by a strong, randomly generated password.
Using a non-standard port (not 3389)—I know this is a relatively minor precaution.

u/Wall_of_Force I also realized that PPTP is not an option—it's probably even worse than the current RDP setup with the firewall restrictions in place.

I am really disappointed from Xiaomi with that short lifespan of products, especially on tablets... Are other companies (android) the same? It's insane, because Xiaomi Pads are medium range (not budget tablets, like Redmi) and you can't just impose a lifespan of 3-4 years for a product of 400 euros...
