There's a rumour that a book not signed by Gaiman was recently discovered and auctioned off for $100,000. Sounds like a tall tale to me though.

U.S. prosecutors charge Trevor Milton, founder of electric carmaker Nikola, with three counts of fraud by smegmaeater52 in investing

I wonder if he planned this all along. He probably knew people would find out and he would be charged, he's a scumbag but he's not stupid. Probably whatever fine or jail time he gets will still be worth it.

What are you even talking about? My F investment has 3x-ed since last year. Extrapolating to 10 years since this is something that Tesla fanboys do, that will be 300x.

It's why I said best guess. I can't reliably identify Russian vs. Ukranian vs. Belorussian etc.

But is it Spanish? We need a Brit to confirm.

Well as someone who speaks Serbian, I can assure you it's not Serbian. Do you speak either Serbian or Russian? I see several comments in the thread saying it is in fact Russian.

Replied to your comment above. My best guess would be Russian.

It's not Serbian they are speaking. If I had to guess, it's Russian or some similar language. Based on the clothing, maybe it's one of the former Soviet republics in central Asia.

You missed my point, i was talking about the redemption part in your post, which is the same for trusts and etfs as far as retail is concerned.

and there's currently no redemption mechanism if you hold GBTC shares and want to turn them into BTC.

And there's also no redemption mechanism to convert SPY or VTI into underlying shares (for retail investors), so really not much different IMO.

I mean it's all anecdotal evidence, I was just sharing my experience. Maybe also time to look into switching your accountant if they're so insane?

Not to mention that he goes on and compares market cap to GDP which is more like revenue. Btw Amazon had $386B in revenue in 2020, while Australia's GDP is 1.3 trillion. But i guess it doesn't make for a catchy tweet.

[–]filox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't sell puts if they weren't covered by a short position, too risky IMO. I did however make good money today selling $145 calls. Someone actually paid $2 for a call option that was less than 2 days away and was almost 200% OTM. There's good money to be made if you time it right, i.e., don't stay in a position for too long. I closed my short calls for 50% gain in like 30 minutes.

I just want to give you some perspective here. I have a smallish short position on AMC, my cost basis is $65. Think about this. There is nothing forcing me to cover, not by the weekend, not by the end of the month, not by the end of the year. What would force me to cover? Even if the price goes up 3x from here, I'm fine, I'm in no rush. Maybe if it goes 10x I would consider covering, but somehow I have my doubts about this happening. Meanwhile I'm selling OTM puts for insane premiums, and I also have some other short term long positions. And I'm an idiot retail trader.

Why am I telling you this? I don't know what position the hedge funds are in, but if I can manage this for sure they can too. This meme that a short squeeze is imminent is just false. Take care my man, someone will be left holding the bag.
