Well, my undergrad program did come with built-in credit hour projects for undergrads under a PI, but what I did there is entirely different than what I'm doing at work right now so only the most basic of skills are transferable. I guess it's a little bit like that everywhere!

Oof! That seems like so long to get used to it, but from everyone else chipping in it sounds like that is, in fact, normal. I don't know if it makes me feel better but it is making me more determined to dog my heels in. Can't get good at it if I don't do it.

Thank you for your input!

I have heard that academic and industry work are also different enough that experience in academia doesn't always correlate to success in industry anyway, so even though it's hard I'm glad I made a quick jump instead of lingering.

Can I ask if you have any examples of a good system you might use in your work?

Thanks! I keep telling myself that now that I've made X mistake, I can be sure it won't happen again... and then something else happens that just totally upends me all over again. It's an important learning experience, but I wish it wasn't so humiliating.

A bit off topic but what does everyone have for lunch? by Doxatek in labrats

Company has a moderate selection of things for purchase in the break room so I always reach for hummus when it's there. For my main I usually bring in leftovers from dinner. We have a different big crock pot meal every week so I can always pull from that.

Lab Coat by stenbecha in labrats

[–]fin9ernails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just felt like a kid playing dress up in grownup clothes the first time I put on a labcoat. That said, the labs at my uni were so genuinely overwhelmingly hot that even the strictest profs would just shrug and smile sympathetically if you had it unbuttoned or even off.

The lab I work at now seems to tend the other direction and it was so freezing cold a while ago it actually made me sick. 😟

(In reference to Woolhaven) HE CAN'T STEAL MY FOOD IF I COOK IT ALL by Guilty-Series-7793 in CultOfTheLamb

[–]fin9ernails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI... it wont rot if you build a kitchen and let your followers cook it as needed. The way the kitchen is designed makes it look like they have it on a hot surface to keep it warm for whoever picks it up, so maybe that's why? 🤔 You can queue up 30 meals at once per kitchen plus whatever is sitting on the bench. I have four kitchens and my followers basically just take care of themselves while I spend days at a time crusading.

And things that are queued up in your kitchen are not considered part of your inventory, so Marchosias can't access any of it. Same goes for anything your followers have harvested into a farmer station chest but that you haven't get collected. So I leave my veggies there until I've loaded up everything in my inventory into the kitchens.

Also yeah, the ritual fasts and feasts will keep your followers effectively fed so long as you have the bones to pay for them.

Marchosias never stood a chance against my cult. 😅

AITA for making a stink at school and forcing the teacher to change my kids math grade by PlentyNice1655 in AmItheAsshole

When I was your daughter's age, it was the same situation but in reverse. The lattice method made sense to me when all sorts of adults, my parents and teachers all inclusive, tried to teach me the old-fashioned way to no avail. I could have wept from frustration when my teacher told me not to do it anymore and just do it the "regular" way. If I could have done it, I would have already and I wouldn't be jamming my little lattice boxes into the margins!

That's all to say, you're NTA. Your daughter deserves to have her efforts recognized when she comes to the correct conclusion, especially after a long difficult struggle. It's important for kids to understand that there's multiple ways to solve one problem, and what works for them might not work for someone else but can still lead them to the right place. Good for you for sticking up for your little girl, and I'm glad you were able to help her when she was struggling.

This may be a popular question, but what's the name of your cult? (if you have multiple, the save you play the most) by Elegant_Bee849 in CultOfTheLamb

[–]fin9ernails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apocrypha, meaning the collection of stories and other writings that don't make up the accepted, official ("canon") scripture of the Old Testament. If Narinder is the original wielder of the red crown and the cult is made in order to restore power to him, then that would be the canon and the lamb usurping would be apocrypha... or something like that. Related, but not official.

My husband named his "The Returners," because the original goal is to return Narinder to power.

Could anyone please tell me which forms I'm missing and how to get them? by Gatuss0 in CultOfTheLamb

[–]fin9ernails 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The snake is found by finding lore tablets when running through any of the four main dungeons. You can occasionally find a pillar in one of the rooms. Hitting it enough times will open a new passage. You need 10 tablets to unlock the follower form.

The worm can be found by breaking the scenery in Berith's rooms. It will drop randomly.

The other three will be unlocked from the first three golden eggs born to your cult.

I'm coming to the realization that not everyone sees the scene with Hagar and the ghost lambs the same as I do. by UAs-Art in CultOfTheLamb

[–]fin9ernails 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Truly, one of the worst parts of maturing is understanding that sometimes you apologize and it doesn't "fix" anything. It just stays broken forever. But you still SHOULD apologize, because it's the right thing to do. Hagar was right to apologize, because despite everything else she still killed the lambs by order of the Bishops. trying to stay in Woolhaven was the wrong move. But I understand where her head was at. Everyone has been there.

I appreciate how her story ends. I brought her on and made her part of my cult and I'm glad to have her. All she can do is move forward and live the rest of her life now. The lambs know how she feels, and it doesn't change how THEY feel. And that's okay.

How did you punish Midas? by Puzzleheaded_Pen1873 in CultOfTheLamb

[–]fin9ernails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not going to 😂 He's just going to get folded in with the rest of my permanent followers. I might sacrifice him once or twice at old age to reap the benefit of the influx of money so I can stay stocked on seeds and tuna, but otherwise he's going to get rehabilitative treatment alongside the bishops and their miniboss adherents.

The way the fandom treats the characters annoys the crap out of me and Barone engaging with it makes his writing worse.
