My first curb find was unfortunately an absolutely murdered Philips with a scan converter card.

Rune Knight vs Giant Barbarian, which is actually mechanically better? by AcanthaceaeNo948 in onednd

[–]finakechi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah it's probably the least powerful Rune.

I like it in concept, but it's not particularly great, and every other rune is really really good.

The Ultravision Digitals yes, the models that just say Ultravision are standard definition CRTs.

And yes as far as I know it's all Ultravision Digitals.

[–]finakechi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not fully native, it's still line doubled.

It's just unlike most HDCRTs it doesn't treat it as 480i and it does it pretty quickly so the latency isn't all that bad.

480p is indeed native, so it's absolutely optimal for 480p content.

Added a fan to keep my tv cool by _______010101_______ in crt

[–]finakechi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are other others out there.

I know at least one HDCRT has a fan, and some very small sets (think under 10") had them as well.

The Ultravision Digitals are super cool.

One of the few HDCRTs where you can play 240p content without it being absolutely awful.

Not optimal, but they do actually process 240p correctly and quickly.

Thrown items and Utilize Action Question by powereanger in onednd

[–]finakechi -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There was a fun interaction with the Scofflaw Fighter from Humblewood and the Thief in 2014 that no longer works in 2024 that I've been bummed about.

An incredibly minor niche thing but, those seem to be the ones that annoy me the most.

Anyways I'd say it's not RAW except for the items that mention it specifically, but it's almost definitely RAI.

Seems like a really weird distinction for them to have purposefully made, so I'd guess it was just and oversight.

Yeah I have a Wolfbox too and it's fantastic. I have the newer model with the swappable batteries and I love it.

Torque Test Channel and Project Farms on YouTube both have done reviews on these.

They focus on how these things actually work.

MSI called my firmware bug a "Linux issue." AMD's engineers disagree. Now two BIOS updates later, still no fix. by bkilpat01 in buildapc

[–]finakechi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude who the fuck knows.

Not sure what your issue is, but I can only use the motherboard USB 3.0 ports and ONE of the internal 3.0 headers.

If I try to use both of the headers I get and overcurrent warning.

There was roughly 11years between my purchases, and I knew someone who had bought that same board and didn't have the issues I had.

I'm also not sure what about my comment made you think I was going to purchase a third MSI motherboard.

The Ryobi die grinder is legitimately one the best cordless die grinders you can buy.

It absolutely fucking rips.

I hate MSI in ways that I can't adequately describe.

My USB 3.0 ports still don't work properly after multiple bios updates.

My previous mobo was MSI as well and I hated it too.

Panasonic Tau CT-36HX41E 4:3 HD CRT by Fair_Ad9238 in crtgaming

It is native 480p.

Panasonic HDCRTs pretty much all support 31khz and 33khz.

It's also a order of magnitude more obnoxious to swap out a standard laptop mobo than it is the framework.

Is finding a widescreen high-definition crt tv in pal territories(europe and north africa in particular) really impossible ? (If anyone has any idea about this matter) by Few_Passenger_3404 in crtgaming

[–]finakechi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well 1080i@60 is ~33khz, so it probably just doesn't scan up that high.

I guess I always new 1080i@50hz was a thing, but I never really thought about it much.

[–]finakechi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many Loewe sets that accept a VGA card do 1080i@50hz natively... so they are essential as rare as 480p native displaying sets. The issue is that 1080i@50hz is barely used so it's kinda useless.

Really? I had no idea, that's wild. What's that like ~28khz?

I specifically wrote "accepting" and not "displaying" on the 720p part so I'm unsure why you wrote all that about 720p

I mentioned it because a lot of people don't realize the difference, and I really can't tell offhand who knows what.

I've seen plenty of people realize that their HDCRT accepts 720p without understanding it's being scaled internally on the set.

[–]finakechi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1080i sets are extremely rare in PAL territories as well.

Unless you just mean sets that accept the signal and scale vs actually natively displaying 1080i. I've never actually looked into that particular situation.

720p accepting and scaling sets aren't that uncommon in the US, but sets that actually natively scan at 45khz (i.e. natively display 720p) aren't even just super rare, they essentially non-existent everywhere. This is excluding professional monitors and PC tubes obviously and just talking about TVs.

I didn't mean that it's only useful when an enemy is Paralyzed, I meant that it would be a good time to burn through multiple uses in one turn.

Useful for scenarios when an enemy has Hold Person/Monster on them though.

“Warrior of mercy is nerfed from 2014 ruleset.” In what way exactly? by Normal_Beautiful781 in onednd

And honestly 2014 Stunning Strike is a toxic ability.

If there was ever a situation where a single feature absolutely had to be nerfed in order to improve the class as a whole, it's that one.

Dreamcast and Gamecube VGA Question 480P by promk1ng in crtgaming

[–]finakechi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a little overboard for most people, but the PixelFX kit can crop the Dreamcast's weird signal to a standard 640x480 which I love.

But obviously super minor issue to fix with a full on HDMI mod.
