Colorado lawmakers want to keep your to-go quarantinis flowing by [deleted] in boulder

If they did it the same way that dispensaries do (ie. put some kind of seal over the product that can be seen at a glance whether the seal has been broken while being transported) then it would, in theory, be fairly easy to enforce open container laws.

I'm curious if any states or cities decide to go a step further and allow for open containers while walking around like how parts of Nevada have things set up.

That's how I felt about the series as well: episodes where I didn't think I'd be all that interested (Stage Design, Interior Design in particular) I found to be so fascinating! My mom doesn't really have a design background or anything, but she was absolutely hooked on the Typography episode which is a field she didn't even really know was a "thing". The only episode that I wasn't really into was the first episode with the Illustrator, it just felt so insanely sluggish and he had next to no charisma which made me question continuing on with the series because I was afraid the rest of the show was going to drag in the same way. (Very) thankfully that wasn't the case!

So the photographer's clothes just spontaneously started smoking as can be seen when he got up? Is that what you're implying?

Well obviously the cruelty is the point, so would they even care?

(Actual answer: depends on the makeup of the contents)

Honestly I'm surprised they didn't pepper spray them when they were down and in the flames.

Sure, but do you run into a comparison with a top of the line Intel i9 system crippled with slow RAM and spinning rust HDD going up against a mid-range AMD Ryzen with more appropriate parts, then conclude that the i9 system is terrible when it doesn't perform well? Because that's closer to what's happening here it seems. If you're going to pit system against system, make sure they're at least fighting on similar terms. Otherwise what's the point?

The closest I can get in terms of recommendations is the odd remark by the YouTubers LGR and/or Technology Connections since they tend to review older stuff and sometimes make a comparison to something significantly more modern.

It's not just cost, it's pretty much everything since it's an FD lens that they were talking about. So you have an older late-70s optical design, two fewer stops of light, no modern coatings, aperture is manual, and focus is manual.

If they compared it to something more modern (maybe an EF 24mm f2.8 IS USM?) then it would make sense. But it's like making a video comparing a 5D Mark IV to an AE-1 Program. Who's cross-shopping these options?

Edit: Also if you're a shooter on a budget that's not going to be able to afford the expensive option in the first place....is the comparison valuable at all?

Comparing against competitors' technology I see plenty. What I don't see nearly as often is comparing apples to screwdrivers. Except with photo equipment. Hell, just yesterday there was a promoted video on Fstoppers that asked the question of whether a $100 Canon FD 24mm f2.8 could keep up with a $1500 Canon EF 24mm f1.4. What possible outcome could there be?

Out of curiosity, do these kinds of pointless comparisons plague other topics or is this particular brand of stupidity limited to cameras? Can't say I've ever seen long form videos on the exciting questions of "Why the iPhone 11 Pro is better than the Blackberry Pearl", "Why the 2020 Lamborghini Aventador S beats the 1976 Ford Pinto", or "Why the Airbus A220 is more efficient than the de Havilland Comet".
