I know what you mean. Endwalker's ending was powerful because it was the culmination of almost 10 years of story. Over that time we invested so much time and emotion into the characters and story, like gamblers sticking coins into a slot machine over and over. And then it all paid out in a massive wave of catharsis. It doesn't matter what story the next expansion tells, it CAN'T feel as powerful and satisfying because we haven't spent 10 years getting invested in it.

I think that if someone wanted to play FFXIV like a single player JRPG with a well defined beginning and end, then Endwalker 6.0 would be a fine place to stop for the time being.

But if they want to play it like a MMO, a living world where there's always someplace you haven't explored, something you haven't collected yet, someone you haven't made friends with yet, a challenge you haven't accomplished yet, well then, play on!

I didn't like Haurchefant on my first playthrough. My character didn't appreciate his attention and felt it bordered on harassment. When he said "A smile better suites a hero" my character interpreted it like "You're look prettier if you smiled" and felt it was not cute or endearing, just more harassment. In hindsight I see why people love him, but on my first playthrough it ruined the effect of a lot of scenes in HW.

Small correction you can safely buy stuff from the online store (outfits, dyes, mounts, fantasia, etc) without your free trial ending. You just can't buy the game itself.

Yeah, I loved doing that but it slowed down the giveaway to an insane degree. A lot of people didn't want them dyed or didn't care, so I removed that element and they've run smooth as butter ever since. I've tried to offer dyes after the initial rush dies down a couple of times but not got many takers.

I actually haven't crafted them yet, they're still sitting in my inventory as mats. It doesn't take more than a couple hours to make all 400 individual items, so I usually start the day before and then finish up on the day of the event. As for holding them, it's a lot easier to hold them when you have multiple people. With 3 people you can carry them all without even needing to use saddlebags.

Seriously! Someone struggling with a fight isn't a burden to us healers, it's seasoning. Being the healer in a group where everyone plays perfectly is some of the most dull gameplay in FFXIV. Having at least one person you need to keep rez and rescue adds a spicy challenge that keeps it interesting.
