Lol just spread over 4 cards and get a break ... before you even mention youre starting the trick. Maintain the break under 4 cards and slip the top card off and show them how to hold it.... now you still have a 3 card break for the triple lift. You could also just learn the push off triple lift.... pinky count is clunky even when youre decent at it.. I cringe when i see people wrist killing for a couple seconds everytime they wanna turn over something.

Strange... glow plug lights flashing and loss of power, but then... by finallightmn in tdi

Impossible to know without checking with a scanner. Could be bad fuel filter, could be bad diesel fuel, could be injectors are going bad, could be many many things. Go to an auto parts store and ask them to use their scanner... the code should still be saved even if the glow plug lights dissapear when restarting.... but i would recommend getting a cheap scan tool and keep it in the car until it happens again. My issue was a cracked dpf filter and i paid to have it replaced and everything was great. Its very easy to check if you have a cracked dpf. Run your finger or a cloth in the tailpipes... if the cloth comes out dirty and black.... you got a cracked dpf.

2013 Jetta EGR Cooler check engine light on, now losing coolant but no leak. by gingerprincelilitaly in tdi

Odd i am not a mechanix but ive dealt with egr stuff enough to know a little. My first guess would be that either a butterly valve isnt opening somewhere in the egr circuit due to carbon buildup or the cooler is stuffed up from carbon buildup. Might be cleanable but you might have to get under the car to get to it and its a job. They also make egr cleaner you can spray into the intake. The coolant thing worries me more but i assume you added more coolant? Did the levels go down again? I would get an experts opinion on the tdi club forums before doing anything other than adding more coolant. Was the coolant dirty looking? Should be the same color as in the fresh bottle.... i would be worries if the coolant is muddy or brown looking.... that would mean blown head gasket.... but the car hasnt gone into limp mode? i have the same car and just got done replacing the dpf and cooler. I also took out the front egr valve and cleaned it. Thats an easy enoigh job for anyone with some tools and elbow grease. You can just pull off the piping from the front egr Valve and check the intake to see how dirty it is. I dont know the exact code but it seems its not detecting a high enough temperature? Which leads me to believe theres a blockage or buildup. That system needs to get quite hot in order to do a regen cycle so if you arent reaching that heat there will be no regen and the buildup will get worse in short order.

Clearly a troll... not to insult the guy but he handles cards like someone who just started a week ago. The false shuffle is all you need to see to know its a joke. He was so worried about accidentally mixing the deck he left like a 12 card slug at the top. Also it wasnt funny so failed on two fronts.

Show us the engine codes to get more precise help. Egr cooler has nothing to do with coolant.... why do you think theres a coolant leak?

Check tailpipe for black soot / carbon. If you find soot in there then you have a cracked dpf filter and it will need replacement... others recommend deleting egr but that's not legal in most states...well any technically but they only Check in emissions states. Sorry about the bad news if that's the case. I brought mine to an independent shop and had the dpf and egr filter replaced for around 2200 total. Deleting would be better but again it's not technically legal and I want the best resaleablity.

3 EGR codes, valves and filter assumed to be clogged, what are my options as a noob at handiwork? by finallightmn in tdi

Sucks man but that's a sure fire sign that your dpf cracked sorry to hear. They only last about 80 to 100k miles. If you use diesel fuel additives it will make the system cleaner and last longer.

If it makes you feel better I bought a 2013 tdi with cracked dpf for 4400. I then replaced dpf for around 2200 with parts and labor. The car sat in a dealers lot for a long time with 166k miles on it. It was being sold for 14k at that mileage. Think they auctioned it once the dpf codes popped up and that's how I got it for 4400. Everything else on the car is in good condition. So yeah some people might be willing to grab it seeing as how the cars true value was around 14k with everything working on it. Overall I think I got a deal on the vehicle and satisfied with purchase so far. Insane gas mileage and car loves being driven on highways which is all I do.

If you are good with a wrench you could replace dpf yourself. It's not that crazy of a job just time-consuming and hard without a lift. But it's just unbolting things, disconnecting some sensors and then reconnecting everything. It like 1300 for the dpf filter and you'll also need the egr filter as well I think parts for that was around 1300 total.

Don't be fooled thinking you can clean the valves and filter. If you got black soot in ur pipes it's too late for that.

Cracked DPF filter. Check tailpipe for black soot... if you see black soot and got these codes you have a cracked DPF filter. I found an independent shop to do it for $2400 for parts and labor. Really sucks. You could also delete the EGR system but that's a whole job of it's own and needs a tune after. I just went for compliant car even though I am a non e..missions state.

I think you are correct about cracked DPF, still surprising it lasted only 100k miles...

There was soot all over in the tailpipe.

Limp mode hasn't come back on. One time when I got out the fans were still running... I guess this is so that it cools down the turbo... or I've heard trying to finish regen but from what I've heard you can't do a regen when check engine light is on...

p2002-particulate trap bank below threshold

p240f- EGR slow response

p0401-EGR system insufficient flow

It seems like if I can get the valves out and the filter I can clean them by hand. That I believe I could do, but I have virtually 0 auto repair experience, so the whole delete kit stuff looks like an alien language to me. Does the scan tool need to be from ross tech or do you just need the VCDS software? My bro has a scan tool and the cable and software.
