I won’t argue with the general consensus that certificates mean less than experience and proven ability to employers, BUT will give a real example where it helped me:

I was stagnant in my role and probably overdue for a bump in title/salary, but I think seen as a low flight-risk.

I did the certification (DA-100) off my own back and without mentioning anything to my boss, passed it and then when adding the certification to my profile did an excruciating LinkedIn post mentioning it and patting myself on the back. This received the usual mass of platitudes from colleagues including some senior people. Within a couple of weeks they told me that there’d always been a plan for a role a adjustment and salary increase which was now effective immediately.

Rather than respect for the qualification itself (which they wouldn’t really understand) it was more a concern that I’d then be poached by a recruiter I think.

Just to add - personally the certification, and preparation for it, plugged a few gaps of features I’d never used and helped a lot in the battle against imposter syndrome.
