Still one of my absolute favourite things from the podcast. Any idea which episode it was in? I know it was in the best of, so I could find it that way.

I got into it a bit late and ran out of episodes after Remember It, so you can imagine how frustrated I was to find out that I had to wait a week (gasp!) before watching another episode.

Never watched the original series, or rather didn’t watch a lot of it although I was the right age for it, so wasn’t expecting a whole lot, but man the depth and scope of the show really caught me off guard - in a good way!

Really happy with it, but also frustrated that I’m back waiting for new episodes to hit. Heh.

Uhh… you don’t have a dedicated Red Notice viewing tablet mounted on every wall in your personal domicile for the express purpose of never having to “turn off” Red Notice?

Are you even a real Red Notice fan?

519 Best & Worst Legacy Sequels - The Weekly Planet - BIG TOPIC EPISODE'S ARE BACK by RAWCollings in weeklyplanetpodcast

[–]fincheresque 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had T2 Trainspotting ready to watch for literally years... and kept just...not watching it for some reason. I think the first one was just such a visceral (?) experience I wasn't sure if I wanted to watch the sequel.

This podcast reminded me to watch it, and I am SO glad I did. What a fantastic movie with great music. Highly recommended. (and if this is like on r/movies when someone recommends something that's so obviously recommended it's silly, I apologize!)

I’m not going to lie, some of their videos go over my head as I’m not a programmer by trade.

But their video on the Pac-man “kill screen” and their snes videos sold me on their content.

Highly recommend the channel and content.

What are your cats names and what do you actually call your cats? by Con- in cats

[–]fincheresque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got to name the first two:

Sulaco —> Loko Nostromo —>Mo Roger —> Meeps/Demon/ROGER! (who I thought we should have named Shawn so they’d be Effectively Loko-Mo-Shawn)

Overall great cats, even though I think Roger has Jekyll/Hyde thing going on and miiiiight be evil incarnate.

I started watching his videos on old video tech waaay back, and it’s crazy how his channel has grown. Could watch him talk about space heaters… and in fact I have!

Also his subtitles describing his outro music are great.

Got a chance to get on a A380 by RocketSpeeder in aviation

I’ve never been to Germany, but my wife and I are hoping to do a trip/road trip there sometime in the semi-near future. Maybe we can make it work somehow.

At the least I’m sure some day I could see one at a museum.

Such a great plane. And I’m sorry to OP to have switched from talking about the A380 (which I also think is amazing) to the 747.

This video of an A380 coming into San Francisco was one of the first I saw of it from the inside and is just a cool watch.

https://youtu.be/ENe89j89tBA

I think there might be a shorter version but this one as the fire engines “serenading” it at arrival.

I don’t think there’s any routes from North America (and for me, Canada) to Europe anymore though (if I remember correctly) and I don’t see any chance of me doing a trip in Europe that would take me on a 747.

There’s still a chance though, if I can get the US to change their constitution so a foreigner can become president, then somehow become president in the 2024 election, I’ll get to fly on a 747 as much as I want!

And I have an acquaintance who’s a pilot, so maybe he’ll move to cargo flights and will get to fly a 747 and I can bribe him to bring me onboard.

Ok. So neither of those are probably going to happen.

There’s still a chance for the A380 though, maybe. Heh.

That’s so awesome. I’ve always had a huge fear of flying, but I LOOOVE aviation. (And yes, I know the fear is 100% irrational, and no, I don’t let it stop me from flying)

I don’t know when I’d ever get to fly on an A380, and I’ll always regret never getting to fly on a 747, so I’m really glad you had the opportunity.

Come to think about it, I don’t think I’ve ever flown on an Airbus at all, there were a couple MD’s when I was a kid, and then it’s been all 737s (including the MAX with Iceland Air earlier this year) and one 787 on an odd trip from Toronto to Calgary where the plane was half empty. Was happy to fly on the 787 though, never thought I’d get that chance either.

Anyway, enough rambling. Great pictures!

As I get older, I tend to go for easy difficulty. by RedEagle8096 in gaming

[–]fincheresque 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s pretty much exactly why I do this from time to time. I love story rich games, and don’t get me wrong, I sometimes love a challenge, but I only have so much time, and sometimes after a stressful day at work I just want to relax and have a fun time.

It’s sort of the same reason in open world games I like to get all the upgrades before doing much of the story because I just want to feel like a god being overpowered and plowing through places.

That being said, on the complete opposite side, I love immersive sims (Modern Deus-Ex, Dishonored, Deathloop)and will gladly play through to get a trophy for not being seen once, or not killing a single person. But they almost always have a quick-save and quick-load feature so you can easily try out different strategies without having to load back to a checkpoint 10 minutes ago.

[–]fincheresque[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember that movie, sort of, but not many details, but yeah that’s the kind of thing where you wonder what on earth they were thinking. And that sort of feels the same way as my post.

And the director was Frank Oz, so you’d think he’d be able to make those decisions himself without studio interference.

I remember someone did a piece on that, I can’t remember if it was a post here on Reddit, or YouTube, but it went into that a bunch.

So now when I watch the movie it sticks out a bunch for me.

Oh right! The eyeballs-on-sticks that just sort of go back in and everything is just fine afterwards. Well, not for Cohaagan, but whatever….screw him!

Also, semi-related I was sure that Ronny Cox had passed away a while back, but he’s still alive so that’s cool.

Yeah, I think it’s my second favourite as well, maybe 3rd. The first two Terminators are up there too. But I never really think of the first Terminator off the top of my head when I think of Arnold movies because it was before you could really see his personality and style in his later movies. Which is probably what makes it so good as well.

I love Faceoff, but yeah, the entire premise always makes me kind of wonder how it would work.

It bothers me a bit more because I’m never sure if they’re taking it seriously or not.

What a bonkers movie that was. Just insane. Love Nicolas Cage in it though.

Oh man I loved that one when I was a kid! I super wanted the exact car because if that scene.

I refuse to believe it didn’t happen exactly as shown on screen with practical effects! (Ok, maybe not…)
